My 2021 birdseye board Z3-6 turned into this recently, just in time to put it under (next to) the tree. It’s now a smoke inlay wenge board. Thank you @Sheldon D. and team for the new neck!

That BEM had some kind of an issue right?? Too bad, it was a gorgeous piece of wood. The new results look amazing also!!
Yes, the birdseye was considered the problem for my original neck not being stable. Even though it’s not what I ordered originally, I think the new neck with inlays suit the overall look better!
I sure love me some free range bass pics. That last one reminds me of the Windows XP background...really great pic. Never really liked white finishes but that is gorgeous....Dingwall nails it again!
I have a new NG3x switch that I don't have any plans for and was probably going to offer up on here eventually so if you (or anyone else) is interested lmk.
Looks 1000% better but I'm a sucker for wenge...inlay is also pretty sweet.

That’s gorgeous! I love the BEM on my Z so I hope it stays stable (good so far). I know I would be handled if somethings happens and again, great to see how yours turned out!
Another step closer, and shipping to me on Tuesday (JFB asked, and I told him I could wait a few days more, and don’t mind him letting it acclimate before he takes it out for pics and his last minute once-over).

I doesn't seem to be in need of regular maintenance on other words. My fingers has left an oily residue around the volume knob and in some places on the top the wood has taken on a brighter nuance, this is visible on my avatar beneath the neck pickup. Are these the same kind of things that made you apply shoe polish?
Hi, yes this is a completely new neck build. Now wenge/wenge. The original wenge/BEM is still with Sheldon’s go to guy in Sydney who handled my warranty issue with Sheldon.
Thanks! I’m stoked with how it matched up with the redwood top. I’ll miss the birdseye but this came out great. Hoping yours remains issue free!
It really is sweet. There’s also roasted flamed maple in the inlay that’s really dark and not really visible in my phone pic, I’ll have to dust off the dslr and get some proper snaps of the big boi soon.

Stunning bass. Both necks were gorgeous, but I think that darker board with that bass is an improvement (and that is saying something).
I don't sweat when I play and I don't have a lot of acidity in my hands, so my strings last a long time. My bass wear and tear is very gradual/minimal as a result. In general, I can see a little bit of gunk (for lack of better word) on the fretboard, but that is over a long period of playing time.

Thank you, and yes you’re right. As much as it pained me to choose a dark board for the neck re-build, it works better with the total look.

The dark board really does look good there. And that smoky inlay? Superb.
I agree - the darker fretboard does a better job to tie in the dark hardware. The BEM was stunning, but this looks better to my eye. And the smoke inlay design just took the thing to a whole new level. I'd have a hard time taking that piece of art out of its glass case.
