I told myself I'd buy a Dingwall this year. Didn't think it was gonna happen January 2nd.
John Fox is the man. I am so fortunate to live near him. His set-ups alone are worth their weight in gold.

When he was in Jersey I was fortunate to visit him several times. Great guy, patient as all get out. Let me play 2 million different basses ha. Bought my D-Roc from him, and the Adamovic I ordered from him 18 months ago should be here next week.
Ah, that would be one of the 4 Adamovic 5-strings he said was coming in, when he was keeping me in the loop on my Z3 shipping.
I am obsessively tracking it lol. Mine is the only 4. I’m sure they will all be amazing.

I inquired about this one last week. Someone is supposed to be coming in to look at it today. I'm sure it'll sell but they'll lmk if it doesn't.
It's a nice deal but I was a little turned off by some others' experiences with them and it's not exactly what I want so I see myself giving JFB a call real soon.
A question for the Dingwall brain trust.
I’m upgrading my Combustion 3 - 6 string with SFII pickups, a Glock preamp and a 6 way switch. The only part left to upgrade is the bridge. Dingwall can’t sell me a bridge so I’m stuck using the Babicz bridge system. It’s very expensive but not enough to prevent me getting it.
Do you think that upgrade is worth the money or is the stock bridge adequate? Has anyone done this? Any significant improvement?

No strings… an experiment that may be cool or may be hideous. I hope to find out tomorrow.
There’s supposed to be a Dingwall issue upgrade one-piece bridge for import models in the pipeline. I’m not aware of an ETA but it’s something to consider.
Their sales department didn’t mention it. That sounds like a good solution if it’s not to far in the future.
The stock bridge is absolutely adequate, Dingwall doesn't cheap out on hardware or anything in their instruments. What sort of improvement are you hoping for?
Some folks used to complain that the import bridges had sharp edges, but a slight redesign improved that.
Some folks experience saddles sinking because the saddle screws were just a tiny bit loose, but purple Loctite is a great, cheap, easy solution.
Some folks don't like the black chrome color, especially because you can't get upgraded hardware in that color, so they swap the bridge solely to get black or chrome hardware.
I've never hardware-swapped a Dingwall, but in my many years modding regular basses, I've never experienced any tonal or aural improvements when putting on a new bridge besides maybe a slight difference in sustain, which doesn't really bother me because I'm not playing whole notes at 10 BPM so I don't need notes to ring out forever while I go make a sandwich.
When I do swap a bridge, it's because of function: either the stock was so cheaply made that the saddles constantly moved around, or it was so tarnished/abused I couldn't adjust it properly, or just because I was color-swapping hardware and I really like quick-release bridges so I can easily audition different string sets. I've never heard the tonal difference of aluminum, brass, or steel like some Telecaster players apparently hear from their bridge saddles.
Yeah, I'd probably hold out for a bit and see. If the current bridge works, try it out for a while before deciding.
