No prob. Hopefully you’ll get a few more opinions besides mine but I do believe this to be correct on how I interpreted your situation.

curious what neck? Wenge or maple?

I’ve found the maple ones a bit more “springy” and the wenge more “stiff” with a more noticeable “soft spot”
I‘d hope so, as well. The neck is a lovely full wenge specimen, so it’s seemingly acting in accordance with your description.

Well, it was in for pickups/electronics around December 7...so it would seem just the neck fitting and final prep at this point. Checking the Facebook page every afternoon rather than bothering the shop--they have enough on their hands already.

Although I do feel a bit like Peter at the end of the Monkees title sequence.

Yours was in the same social media posts that showed the electronics install as mine was, so I really think you’re damn close to shipping, if not already on the way to your dealer.

TL;DR

I ended up with another Combustion. first six string and really don’t see this one going anywhere. It was bought with purpose and has a bit of a story. It holds a title of “Our bass” between myself and someone Awesome. I was fortunate to play it in the past before it found a home(it’s dated somewhere in this thread I think).

This beauty has a perfect neck, set up and a bonus 6 way switch. I may add toggles and possibly a custom PG. DEtuner already ordered.
Oh and some serious magic mojo from its previous owner. without further adieu:

…… AND also…..I did do something questionable. I don’t know what to make of this but there is a good chance I’ll have a PG for sale.

Any combined Dingwall and Monkees reference is all good from my perspective.

Looking forward to seeing your DNBD.

I’m liking the tort. How about without pg?

That is sweet. I love that color purple. Ive been thinking hard about purpleifying mine with pg and/or neck illusions.

I don’t mind bold moves but I’m not sure it’s the right bold move for my tastes. I need it to look more aggressive which the factory PG does way more so.

perhaps without the white outline.

Tort definitely stands out. Perhaps we all need to see a pic of the entire bass from a few feet further out.

Yeah, the white outline ain't cuttin' it.

Congrats on your new Dingwall addition!

Your 5 must've been adjusted narrower, because they're usually 18mm. The third allen screw (towards the back of the saddle) lets you adjust the spacing of the barrel saddle. Maybe it's an optical illusion, but it kind of looks like your B to E spacing is tighter than the E to A.

That's funny I didn't check the spacing of the other strings and you are right, good eye! The rest are around 17.5 and 17 for the D and G. I'm guessing the previous owner did some tweaks or requested it to be set up like that. Either way it works great for me!
