I don’t mind bold moves but I’m not sure it’s the right bold move for my tastes. I need it to look more aggressive which the factory PG does way more so.

I love that! I usually have mixed feelings about tort on a lot of stuff but I think the white helps. I was thinking about white pearl for my NG 4 string but your pickguard has me thinking!

It's 4 ply correct? Where did you source it if you don't mind sharing?

Does anyone have a domestic/Canadian six string bridge for sale. I’m completely “Canadianizing” my Combustion 3-6 with SFII pups, a Glock pre and a six way switch. Just need the bridge to complete the project. Otherwise it’s a Babicz bridge$$$.(or any other suggestions?)

Nate: As I look at the full size pic with the tort pick guard I don’t mind it at all. Has kind of a retro vibe. Still prefer the black PG but nothing wrong with the tort and purple look.

I actually like the tort on purple, even though I rarely do… but yeah, I wouldn’t call it more aggressive.

How about instead having those three big pickups wrapped by someone who does custom car parts? I‘d go white matte but there’s a whole rainbow out there for you.

I think the colour scheme works but the total visual design sends it to more of a vintage vibe. There is an amazing airbrush artist local to me and I’m considering trying to commission him to do something with a band logo and such but A) I’ll need to confirm he can do something can withstand the rest of time and won’t chip and flake and B) see if it’s even in the realm of affordability and C) I’ll need to get probably a black or white PG as his canvas

I’m liking the tort. How about without pg?

I love the purple but without the PG is just too clean/plain for me tastes.
I will be needing some new strings thou asap with the new family member!!!

TL;DR

I ended up with another Combustion. first six string and really don’t see this one going anywhere. It was bought with purpose and has a bit of a story. It holds a title of “Our bass” between myself and someone Awesome. I was fortunate to play it in the past before it found a home(it’s dated somewhere in this thread I think).

This beauty has a perfect neck, set up and a bonus 6 way switch. I may add toggles and possibly a custom PG. DEtuner already ordered.
Oh and some serious magic mojo from its previous owner. without further adieu:

…… AND also…..I did do something questionable. I don’t know what to make of this but there is a good chance I’ll have a PG for sale.

I haven’t actually installed the Tory yet either. Just set it on top of the factory PG

Custom vinyl decal is the way if your guy does digital. When it wears just get a replacement.

@AB Nate The tort looks great on this, I say that as a non tort fan.
As always anything is an improvement on the adidas pickguard

I haven’t appreciated the racing stripes too much in the past and I had one pet peeve that would turn me off of them significantly but that seems remedied with the newer ones, at least this one.

I found the edges of the lines to be very sharp and would rub my knuckles on them periodically which I think had a placebo effect of triggering thoughts on how I lose enough skin at work and other non bass related unpleasantries. This PG seems to have tapered edges and the lines are very smooth to the touch. Petty perhaps but the last thing I want to think about is all the occasions that piss me off and make me swear when I’m trying to “get into it”

3 ply I believe. I’ll confirm shortly. Tortoise Shell Pickguard for Dingwall Combustion 4, 5, & 6 string models.

Is Dingwall selling pickguards now?

This is from the website. I don’t believe they have a selection and it could be a limited batch for all I know. I probably would have bought just a black one sans stripes if I had seen it.

With respect to the “all” position, I often find myself wanting to pull out more upper mids. That is without promoting the pick click sound.

Anyone find themselves in a similar situation? I have a gk1001rb amp, DG B1K and a Sansamp parametric pre amp (fwtw). Any advice?

Do you know how your pick ups are wired? If they are in parallel just switching them to series would give you a solid mid focus

You can also lower your pick ups and that would help avoid the click sound. Between the gain on your amp and pedals it’s easy to overcome the volume loss when you do this and often you end up with a more articulate cleaner sound.

The neck and bridge are in series from the factory on the D-Roc, I don't think you can change the wiring any further and still have the 'all on' setting still function correctly. The 3 pickup setting is Bridge/Middle Parallel in series w/ Neck

Gotcha. That said, the all on setting isn’t a very mid forward setting at all and perhaps @Alex-Thompson is looking to pull something out there that’s not meant to be and perhaps should revert back to further down the signal chain for this?

Hey Dingwall Fam! Happy New Years to you all! I have been on the hunt for Dbird, I know they are discontinued and are now the Droc basses. I own a Droc and am happy with it but have that itch for a Dbird. I’d like to make a trade, I have an ABZ 4 model which I’d be willing to trade for your Dbird if you are interested. Here are pics of the bass. There is nothing wrong with the bass, all pups work tunings pegs are good and she plays awesome as Dingwall basses do. If your interested let me know hope everyone is doing good

It’s an awesome base, I feel bad in a way doing this as the way the neck feels it’s amazing, I just have a love for the Dbirds I cant ignore.
