I just wanted to update here, I heard back from Dingwall and they were able to help me out. Not under warranty but found a good solution so I'm set.

Jason from Fretnation helped me out talking to Dingwall for on my behalf so big shout out to him.

I think it's gone too. Seller mentioned that it wasn't structural damage, only cosmetic. It wasn't a horror story. Upper horn finish gouge by the strap pin moving back in one line about 1/2" wide? There was some white scratch and finish damage. Memory fails already. Looked like some gentle buffing by a really good finish person could address it.

I'm glad someone snapped it up. I would have done something stupid, as I don't even play 6 anymore.

I just love seeing them show off basses on my social media feeds, and you and CJC6 were in the build pipeline at the same time as me, you both spotted your basses when I’d put up pics where I’d spotted mine, so you guys’ basses stuck in my head.

Glad to see how beautiful yours has come out. I know that if I ever get an AB2, I’m going to have a hell of a time speccing it out. I love figured walnut, but I also love the idea of a bright paint job that would make those cutouts pop.

That sold on TB a while back for CHEAP if I recall correctly. Like less than 2k. I could be wrong though. Too lazy to look.

Finish crack on the super cheap AB1 mmbongo posted. It looks more like a screw driver mark than a strap pin to me. Haha

How would trans black look on figured walnut? Considering an ABII fretless.

I don’t think I’d do that on a relatively dark wood like walnut. If it were done, I’d think it would need a really light touch with the trans black, or you’d lose a lot of the wood figuring.

For reference, my only current figured walnut top.

I think if they can keep it to halfway between there & black it could look pretty menacing but you'll inherently be losing a lot of the details in the figure. Maybe a quarter of the way towards black??
