Ear's ringing just by looking at it
So my favorite bass preamp is the Sadowsky. But it's designed for a Fender Jazz (4 knob and one is a pickup blend) and not my 3-pickup AB. Besides the incredible tone, one of the things I like about it is the "vintage tone control" - which can be used as a tone control in passive mode (and also works in active). The stock Darkglass doesn't have this as an option. In passive mode there is no tone control. I used to have an SJ5 with a Glockenklang and preferred it over the Darkglass. The treble knob operated as a treble cut in passive mode if I recall correctly. Anyone know of a bass preamp with a vintage tone control that would work with my AB? If not I guess I'll go with the Glock. Thanks in advance!
You should be able to use the Sadowsky as well, just need remove the blend and wire in your 3x switcher instead. The retail Glockenklang also comes with a blend that needs to be removed. The only awkward part is if the Sadowsky comes with some PCB setup that only fits a jazz plate. So my favorite bass preamp is the Sadowsky. I'm pretty positive I've read somewhere that John East will modify a Uni-Pre (which has a tone control that works in both modes) to remove the blend control and make it work nicely with Dingwalls. So my favorite bass preamp is the Sadowsky. Has the advantage of having a parametric mid which I find immensely useful (for me, depending on the pickup configuration, the mid frequency that needs boosting / cutting tends to change).
Re: Neve preamp. I was just looking at the FretNation builder page and saw that Neve 2 band is now a listed option. Ok, homework time.
I found out my bass started production 5/15. I was hoping it was further along. My specs were confirmed in January.
Almost there
Congrats!! Jason told me today i have 2-3 months left for my Z.. confirmed my specs Feb 1st. Still cant believe i was able to make this happen.
Just out of curiosity, what length of time did you have between making a deposit and confirmation of build specs?
Welp.. mine was a unique situation and one heck of a coincidence. I was actually planning on buying a second 6 string NG3 in late Dec, early Jan. When i called Jason to order, he told me someone had just bailed out that morning on their build slot. He wasnt too happy about it- I wasnt really paying attention, it was kinda in one ear and out the other to me, lolol. I was dead set on the NG3 didnt want to hear anything else..
When I realized he was offering me the slot and asked if wanted to use my payment as a deposit on a custom, my jaw hit the floor. The wife said to do it, so i jumped. It was sheer luck and coincidence. Anyone could have called him that day and grabbed that slot. Wasnt really planning on spending that much, at all, lol.. the wife convinced me to make it happen.

It has always seemed to me that your priorities tend to determine the sort of women that you're surrounded with...Never mind my wait time questions - where the hell do you guys find women that will support you in your musical pursuits and allow you to make these sorts of purchases?![]()
