I had Moe set it up with GHS Precision Flats. I am excited to see how I like those with this preamp. The ACG/East EQ-01 is a filter-based preamp like a Wal or Alembic. All the knobs are stacked knobs and the controls are:
Volume/blend, Neck filter freq/peak, Bridge filter freq/peak & treble freq/treble level. So, a low pass filter for each pickup and a global HPF (called treble here).

Do you feel like it needs any? I agree it's so flat but both the Dbird custom and the Droc standard (with Hipshot saddles and tuners) sing and sustain beautifully and never fall out of tune.

Like I said, not losing any sleep over it. I haven’t noticed any negative impact, then again I’ve played Fender basses without string trees and didn’t notice any impact there either.

You just breathed new life into that J, that colour is super on point, imho. Looks amazing! Great taste!

Hey folks - I had a question for owners of older Afterburners from the 2000s. I have an AB1 with FD3s wired passive (volume, 4-way rotary selector, tone with a push/pull for the bluEQube) and noticed that the volume pot's taper changes depending on whether I have the tone pot wide open or not. So basically:

Tone wide open = When turning the volume knob down, volume decreases in a pretty linear fashion
Tone slightly rolled back = When turning the volume knob down, volume decreases almost all the way down within the first 20% of turning it

This happens regardless of whether I have the bluEQube engaged or not.

Just wondering whether this an issue with my bass, or just the way that it works. If anyone with an older passive AB could weigh in on this that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Mo's guy does incredible paint. He did the refin of my Super P. Purple might not be my preference, but damn, that looks phenomenal.

Thanks for getting back to me. If I'm not mistaken the earlier ones were this way and they transitioned over to the switch soon after. Does yours have this behaviour with the volume and tone knobs?

I had blueEQube tone controls in two AB 1’s, one had a toggle switch, the other a push pull on the tone pot.

I loved that circuit. There was a huge range of sounds between the bluEQube and the selection switch. I had a P tone in the neck and wired the bridge to series.

I never noticed a difference in the taper of the volume pot with the bluEQube, but I usually ran my volume wide open, or turned it all the way down to tune. It could be I just never used my volume control in the way you describe.

I am generally partial to white instruments, but that purple looks great.

Thanks for checking. It happens at any point when the tone is not wide open. Even if I decrease the tone control by 10% the volume taper drastically changes. I did think about whether it was an illusion of the volume dropping as the high end is being rolled off but it seems to be a bit more pronounced than that so I just thought I'd check. Appreciate the help guys.

Has anyone installed a Payson bridge? Is it considered an upgrade to the monorails on the D-Roc?

I've ordered two, one for a combustion & one for a dbird. After the Hellboy wait (sort of glad I didn't buy one now) I don't have the patience for the officials ones to come out anytime soon.....I could be wrong of course...
If you search there is a guy with a yellow nolly that did the upgrade also a guy with a 4 string blue nolly.

The basses are in Australia so when I go back in Aug-Sep I will change them. I might have a D Bird and Combustion for sale too!
