I know exactly what that guy is talking about. Lol. I owned my combustion for about a year. A buddy of mine upgraded to an ABZ. I sat in on a song with his band and after 3 notes…. “Yep, I’m getting an ABZ!!

A few pages ago I said that my 6-way rotary selector died after little use. It did not. A wire came loose just as I switched positions on it and seemed like it was the selector. Took it to my guitar tech, he couldn't fix it - after a month - but Maryland just enacted recreational weed. Anyways, I fixed it today with about 5 minutes of diagnostic and a little solder. Also, he's my former guitar tech.
EDIT: One bit of advice if you order a custom selector - don't use "position 1", "position 2", etc when listing what you want. Make it more descriptive like, "neck most position" or something like that. I ended up with a selector that is reverse of what I wanted because what I was thinking as "1" is different than what they were thinking as "1". Oh well, have a really versatile bass now similar to the @LowEndLobster build. John East preamp, passive tone, 6-way selector on my AB-I. Didn't really love the Darkglass preamp. My 6-way - Neck solo, Middle solo, J, MM - parallel, MM - series, D-ROC.

Just kinda offtopic but thought I would ask this.
Running my ABII has the second position, neck and bridge in series used to give me quite a lot of noise thru the phil jones big head pro.
I got the SSL2+ interface and using the hi z input, the noise is almost fully gone even on his setting. That is with proper gain staging.
What gives? Well, I guess it being different devices "gives" but I was wondering as to - y?

I'm gonna sell the ABZ and order one in a color more my style. If anyone has one for trade in excellent condition hit me up. Don't care about what pickups or pre it has but do want it to be active. Not the biggest fan of coffee table tops but if something looks good it is good. Can add cash to make a deal. amazing bass but I was looking into stripping the finish and getting it repainted and realized someone out there might really like this finish.
But it’s such a nice blue! Maybe some new threads to go with the bass?

I'm just not into blue. I like blacks, reds, white grey, greens, yellows, I'm open to anything really. Just don't mech with blue well. Maybe if it was a blue sparkle with big black flakes.

I think you’re doing the right thing selling it to acquire something more your taste vs depreciating it in a quite drastic way.
Im not huge into blue either. The right blues are amazing and a solid “YES!!” But most are “eeeeehhhh, Nah!”

I was considering maybe a sky blue sparkle or something. Maybe a color close to the konkiel. But thank you for the reassurance! I always suspected the ABZ would be the one for me. Light weight and simple. I am a little more motivated to load the P tone and super fatties into my Droc now.
unfortunately I only have a d roc custom in blue I’d possibly part with
And I’ll be travelling soon so even a purchase would be tricky.
