Joining the club, I just bought a second hand D-Roc Standard 5 in black.
Previous owner got rid of the pickguard, swapped the knobs (I guess...) and mounted a Hipshot Xtender tuner.
I'm amazed by the unplugged sound and the feel of the bass.
Just a few question for the Dingwall specialists among you (sorry I did not manage to read the whole thread yet...):
- from a visual point of view I'm missing the pickguard a little bit and I read in a previous post that Dingwall does not have replacements. I thought of getting some vinyl wrap (same as for for cars, 3M 2080 or oracal 631 or similar) but I'm a bit worried of interactions between the finish and the vinyl adhesive. Alternative would be a rigid pickguard (thin wood or so, similar to the custom series) with double sided adhesive, but the concerns on the adhesive remains as well and the surface is not 100% flat, which will probably be a bit challenging. Can you recommend anything?
- Just out of curiosity, the D-Roc 5 started around end of 2021 (from what I could find by browsing through this thread), mine has a serial number in 22W00
XX (where
XX is numbers), does it mean
XX-th D-Roc made in 2022? The number being relatively low, suggesting beginning of 2022?
