They can do metallic finishes on ABIIs now, as seen during NAMM.

Uhh... it don't exist yet, production is still about 18 months out! It's going to be a fretless 6 with markers, roasted ash neck, DG preamp.

Is this walnut with a trans red finish? Because it's pretty amazing...

It is amazing but I wish there was a way to get that exposed neck heel to match the body color.

Love the fretboard on that one. I think I would like it even more if the heel of the neck at the body was painted to match the body.

That's why you colour coordinate between the neck and the body. If it was wenge or roasted ash, it would look better in an instant.

This looks so much cleaner than stock. I've been pondering this to my black NG and these pics are not helping my wallet!

I would be really stoked if I could get one of those black anodized pickguards with shiny metal beveled edges like they used in the Darkglass version. Only without the Darkglass logo haha...

All of mine are black, I think I remember my combustion being white though. Yours is looking great. Could always go with a BWB pickguard to match the nut.

Misnomer on my part - it's called a reach reducing pin - you can choose to attach your strap to the back of the bass via a Dunlop straplock - when set up like that, the entire instrument is set to the player's right a bit more when standing, which reduces the reach normally required by the left arm. Located under the battery cover where the arrow is. Shop-built Canadian models have both the RR pin and a strap pin in the normal location.

Has anyone installed one of the Reach Extender/Reach Reducing strap mounts on a production model?

I have a KK3 Combustion that I'd like to add one to, and I'd like to get some guidance on exact placement, what straplock kit to use, etc.

I appreciate any insight y'all might have to offer!

I have! Works great, recommended. I added one to my NG-3 5-string, see photos below. It was nerve-racking taking a drill to perfectly great instrument, but worth it in the end. General measurements, methodology, and inspiration from this J. Fox video, where he added one to a swirl NG:

Edited to add: I also replaced the other regular NG3 strap pins with Dunlop pins, for consistency. Also nerve-wracking, but also easy and worth doing. If I could do it over again I might make them all flush-mounts, like a D-roc!

This is a value mod. You won’t lose money from it as long as you do a clean job.
With that, if you talk with dingwall, the insert may come with a template? Don’t quote me on that but I feel I recall a convo about it. That could have only been for Canadian models…. I could just be making stuff up too.
