Dingwall Owners Club

Dingwall usually ships with balanced tension sets.
If you’re used to D’Addario 45-105, a balanced set with Dingwall scale lengths would be 45-60-80-105.

If you spend a lot of time in drop-D, increase the low string to 110.

The low string should be the only one that will need to be extra-long scale.

Ok.
I didn't had the knowledge that it should be 60/80 instead of 65/85.
Good to know that point.

I’ll probably take more pics tomorrow, but here’s a teaser of the newly arrived mini-me of my Z3.

So that’s a 6.5” to 7” scale six string? Dingwall is making way too many models for me to keep up with. And then where the hell are you gonna buy strings for that thing? :D

Navigating the "new" TalkBass is a UX disaster. Takes so many extra clicks just to do the same things as before.

Question overall -- I'm still a year or so out on my next Z build. I've sent the dealer I'm working with a couple emails with some questions/thoughts, but haven't heard back. They're a well liked/reputable dealer, so I have no interest in naming them right now. Since I'm so far out, I'm not at all concerned over it. I'd like to have them answered though, so I can get things more finalized. How long would ya wait between emails? My last one was beginning of May.

That's some slow communication. I would not have waited as long...

I’d call

If it's the shop I'm thinking of, maybe a stop in to talk with fine proprietors. Emails in any line of business that aren't of an urgent nature sometimes just get lost. That said, when it comes down to actual build time, definitely make sure the particulars are dialed in.

I think I know the shop you're thinking of, and I don't think that's the shop in question based on my previous conversations with @Selta. That's too much thinking on my part for one post :p

I’ve never even considered it before. Do you have lefty pots in other basses?
Yes, all my other basses have lefty pots.

I wrote an email to the support because hi-mid doesn't works fine (sometime it has no effect in active mod) and the electronic compartment doesn't move when I remove the screws.
I think I'll give it to my luthier, I will know what to do.
Not a complete success even if the bass is marvelous.

Y'all convinced me to reach out to the dealer. I don't have much in the way of time (or inclination) to make phone calls, so I simply shot another email. Probably poor timing given the upcoming US holiday, but, if I don't hear back within a few business days I'll probably need to pick up the phone. This dealer is well known for taking care of folks, especially Dingwall family, and up until I threw down my deposit comms were great. I'm not yet worried, but, if we get closer to locking in specs and what not, this can't continue. Thanks for knocking my head around and keeping me in line :)
