Very much depends. I think the prevailing guidance is to either pull your pickups and check what they are, or email your S/N to Dingwall to check what yours should be.

All of the schematics that I have say the 3 pickup production (import) basses are NBN. That said, I’d go with what Selta said, just to be sure.

From Dingwall re: swapping stock pickups in a 3x Combustion 6: You would need a neck-bridge-neck configuration for a full FDV swap - so to answer your question, it would be a bridge pickup for the middle position.

I haven’t swapped them, yet. I will do an A/B comparison video for you guys but i need to put fresh strings on the SP first

I'm absorbing as many clips and reviews as I can find, I like the chest grunt I'm hearing. I'm worried they don't have the mid grind of FDVs and will get lost in a mix, but that's what mid frequency EQs are for. And Lee Sklar definitely doesn't get lost in the mix.

Yes that is correct!

It is important to know that the FDV pickups cannot be paired with any other Dingwall pickup - if an FDV is next to an FD3 or SFII, it will mess with the magnets and destroy the pickup.

I love having upfront mid grind and my Z delivers. I have a DGTC which I usually leave in the center detent (still boosts low and high mids). This bass has a ton of grind in passive mode too.
IDK if I got magic wood or just plain lucky. I can try to record a quick snippet this weekend /next week with a few other instruments to show it in a mix of some sort.

Thanks for sharing your experience about SFIIs having some grind also. If you're jonesing to make some sound clips, I don't think that would hurt, but no worries if not, I have enough information to make a decision I think

Will FDV play with Ptones? Or SFII with Ptones?

Since PTones aren't made for 6 string I never asked. Others have tried the PTone with both I believe though, I bet a search would turn up something

Excitement! My Canadian knobs and black Hipshot tuners have shipped, so the purple beast will be fully finished soon! Nice to get some good news, actually.

If anyone ever wondered what summer in Vegas without A/C is like, I do not recommend it. Waiting on fan motors sucks, too.
