They are trying to flip this and make a profit. They bought it for under $6k a few weeks ago.

you are not crazy. when i was determining the colour for my ab1… turquoise and green were in the final running. then the ng did the identical colour i was considering so i went green (which is less yellow than the ng green).

I think my refinished D-Bird is just a little more of a saturated green than your AB, and I’m kind of set on my D-Bird’s green as the color for the AB2 6 fretless I’m planning.

Has anyone tried or considered a solid walnut body ABZ or AB1? I've considered in for my ABZ 6 build for it's appearance and hardness, but I'm not too sure what to expect for the weight. The only solid walnut dingwalls I've seen are Zs and that 5-string prima that keeps getting moved around, which I realize both have a thinner body.

I have an ABI and an ABZ. The ABI has a maple neck and the ABZ has wenge. I love wenge, but the ABZ is something like two pounds heavier than the ABI. So, in my mind, wenge necks are two pounds heavier. So then I see that Dingwall says they're 50g (a little more than 2 ounces) heavier than maple, that kills all my preconceptions. There aren't a ton of Dingwalls out there for me to try, other than my two basses I've only played one other ABZ with maple neck and bass was pretty light. I had basically written off the "light" possibility because I want a wenge neck. But now I'm thinking that maybe I can have both?? Wenge and light? And "light" is just an adjective, so to me anything under 8.5 lbs is "light" and that's not a hard cutoff either. A few more ounces is still fine.

PS - After the latest MacOS update, it really wants me to type "wedge" instead of "wenge" and autocorrects.

PPS - Didn't know you could Ctrl-Click on a word and select "Learn Spelling". wenge wenge wenge wenge. Yep, it works.

I wonder if you could request a lighter piece to account for weight differences between particular pieces. I know that the ABZ is touted as the lightest Dingwall because of the generally used swamp ash, but if I recall correctly, the body is a bit thicker than an AB1, so it would probably be heavier with equal wood choices.
