Got my first Dingwall today, a Super P 4 string, vintage finish. I played it for an hour and bought it. The fan frets are
easy to get use to and the Pickup switching is slick. 8.1 lbs.

Yeah. Especially the sound demos!

I'm in no position to grab my third Dingwall any time soon so I'm holding out hope there's a matching headstock version one day... that on the dark green would look amazing.

I got my SP1 already, a 5-string.

It could be just my ears, but I feel like the A-string is particularly loud on mine. Has anyone else noticed this?

I've adjusted the inner parts of the split pickup down, and the outer parts up by a turn or two, but it still sounds a bit stronger than the other strings. Is the A-string getting 50% more pickup than the other strings?

Trace it and send the paper to quickguards.com. He has many colors/ materials to choose from. Mike has made several for me and they are premium quality.

That's my only... and I mean only... quibble with the SP1, is the plain wood headstock! I'm a sucker for matching headstocks, it helped sell me on the NG3. If they can do it for a production NG, maybe it'll eventually be possible for the SP1 too.

Hmm off the top of my head I don't think I noticed this.
Granted I had Jason from Fretnation slap my preferred strings on it before sending mine.
I will say mine showed up with the bass side of the split p pickup lowered quite far.
No harm no foul raised it about two turns and it felt and sounded better to me.

I like matching headstocks on modern basses like the NG and Z, but definitely prefer the classic look of plain wood on classic basses. I think it fits. And there’s always the option of a Canadian Super P to get the custom options one might want.

The way it reacts when you dig in is great.
It will really bark but the low end is fat but civilized and polite when you back off.

Anyone else got some tone vids to share?
Would love to see what everyone is doing.

NBD is finally here! Thanks to the miracle of Father’s Day I was able to spend a good bit of time with it - both cleaning it up and playing it. It sounds awesome and unlike any other bass I have ever owned. Not sure if that is a result of the scale length, electronics, or chambered body or something else, but the result is one huge sounding bass.

I've been using the solo P tone most of the time. I intended this bass to replace my 5-string Fender P as my main gig bass. I love the P-bass tone, but I want a little more flexibility. So I'll use the solo P the most, but I'll also have P+J in parallel for the Latin tunes my band plays.
