Compared to my 5-string Fender Precision, it's flatter on the back and thinner overall. Definite D-shape, the sides of the neck have a fairly steep angle before they flatten out. I'm not sure what these words convey, but it feels really good. I don't think about how the neck feels when I'm playing, which is a good thing.
That’s a pretty helpful description. My Ibanez ATK 5 has a thick D shape but skinny width. Stingray has a C shape medium size (I guess… all I know is it’s very comfortable). Thin but flatter back sounds really good to me but who knows lol.
Not trying to "yuck" other people's "yum", but, I haven't seen a single Dingwall with Neck Illusions that I thought looked like an improvement, and many folks seem to have trouble installing them precisely enough. I think on such a fine piece like that, I would personally steer far, far away from them and let that killer body wood be the show.
Agreed, but to be fair, I gravitate to a simpler and cleaner look.
Yeah I kind of hesitate to put them on this beautiful SJ. The good thing is that they are easily removable. I put them on a black ABII and a white NG3 and they looked great. Couldn’t really tell they were an illusion.
