Dingwall Owners Club

Found a nice blue NG3-4 for the collection. Its starting to become a little dingwall heavy. Even with the SP1 I can't let go of the longer combustion, they still have that extra inherent compression and a better "J" sound. The SP1 is the easiest to play though. Both sound great through my helix LT -> Barefaced cab.

It’s called smart investing. 😜

Finally in the club after many many years of following the Dingwall brand and I’m thrilled. I received my SP1 this week and it’s fantastic. So light and comfortable. Feels shorter than all my other 34 inch basses. Plays exceptionally well although the first 3 frets are taking a small adjustment. But no problem. Speaking of adjustments, I have the truss rod loosened all the way and there is just enough neck relief for the higher action I prefer. I did roll a tiny bit of tension into it to stop any movement. Anyone else run the truss rod at very low tension like this?

I have an email into Dingwall for the bridge shim. I didn’t receive one in the tool pouch and it would be nice to install that 👍🏼

Holy grail achieved and I can finally join the club with my very own AB1

Bought second hand here in Germany for a very reasonable price and I was surprised by how light and well balanced it is. I might (might!) switch the passive electronics for a Glockenklang, but we'll see. For now I can't wait to start rocking it!

Glückwunsch!

Looks just like mine, built in 2005. Even has the non-rounded pickup shells and the bluEQube switch.

That looks like my former bass. Does it have a big dent on the neck around the 7th fret?
Ivan, hello!

Yes, I think that's the one! I found some videos with it on your channel.

Also, there is damage above the 7th fret!

How do you like it? If I understand correctly, you purchased other instruments from Dingwall to replace this one? Why?

To be honest, I really liked this instrument, but I had no previous experience with Dingwall.

I bought it used around 2017 at a GREAT price, but the specs and color were not 100% my thing. Nevertheless, it was my main bass until 2021.
I still remember the gig where it got that dent in the neck 😅

After I got my Super P, the SJ rarely got played, which is why I sold it and saved up for another custom one :)

Boy do I wish I could afford that one. With mine coming any day now basically, and starting a new job in a few weeks, I need to be mindful of splurge spending til I get a handle on the new finances, even if they are better than they were just 2
I hope the transition to the new position goes great for you!

Who knows maybe it’ll still be kicking around when the timing is better. I’m not in a big rush. 😁
