I should add that I have (basic rough and ready) sound clips of each of the following in case anyone is interested in the future:

NG3 FD3n: passive, EQ flat, all four positions on the pick-up selector

NG3 FD3n: DG tone capsule, EQ flat, all four positions on the pick-up selector

NG3 FDV: passive, EQ flat, all four positions on the pick-up selector

NG3 FDV: DG tone capsule, EQ flat, all four positions on the pick-up selector

NG3 FDV: passive, EQ flat, all six positions on the pick-up selector

NG3 FDV: Anima, EQ flat, all six positions on the pick-up selector
I'd be interested to check out the sound clips as well. The Anima is one of the many preamps on my "One day I'll try this" list.

What's everyone's preferred SP1 strings these days?

I like the green 4 string I got recently so much that I just agreed to a trade for a black 5er. Thinking I'll set the 4 up with either cobalt flats, IMA Labella's, or chromes and keep the 5er set up with Dingwall rounds.

My gut tells me that cobalt flats would be great, but not sure which gauge set makes the most sense - the super (45-100) and hybrid (45-105) are the closest to the dingwall set.

Sheldon keeps pulling me in, even late in the game. I've watched the development of the SP1 for years and for no other reason than wanting one, pulled the trigger. Last new bass I had prior was the Ferrari yellow NG in 2015. I also have an early AB1, as well as a 99 NAMM show Z2, but the SP1 makes me want to play it. No regrets, get one!

Just got this black 5er SP1 in a trade, looking happy next to its green 4 friend!

Thinking I'll get a black matte guard for the green one once they're out for sure, and maybe either get or trade for a tortoise or the red one that's on the white bass for the black one... Not sure if those would look better than the gold, though

I just picked this one up after selling my six string NG3. Going to be a fair bit easier to manage for this old guy!

Has anyone tried either the steels or the nickel steels on one of these? I like the nickels but just curious.

I really like my Two-tone burst. So easy to play and I really like the FDV pups. Bet yours sounds great through that rig!

I played a gig last night at a local spot with my originals band. We did 3 hrs and had espn the ocho playing behind us. Decent turnout in my opinion.

I played my Dingwall DROC 5 favoring the middle pickup for a p-bass like sound which seemed to work well.

This place had a nice PA setup with arrays and subs and also provided a sound person.

Our next gig is tonight at a bar where we are running our own sound. I’m trying to choose between the DROC 5 or my L-1000 series 750 for tonight’s gig since I haven’t had that one out in awhile.
