Dingwall Owners Club

I was told that the Markham location actually has an exclusive on Dingwall, at least among Ontario Long & McQuade outlets.
They have managed to build something of a specialty as a boutique bass outlet, and also handle other brands that aren't available elsewhere, like Ken Smith and Fodera.
I guess it's important to remember that L&M have positioned themselves as a mass-market dealer in recent years, similar to GC in the States.
Frustrating for those of us who tend to like more exotic stuff...
I had the exact opposite experience at the Vancouver Long and Mcquade. They had multiple Dingwalls, Godins etc. in stock, the salesman let me try whatever I wanted, answered every question I had, and was extremely helpful when I actually made my order.

I was on L & M's website last night looking at their selection of basses. No Dingwall's there. Closest L & M to me is little better than a 2 hour drive away. I doubt they have any there.
There is a very quiet Dingwall dealer 45 minutes away. I say quiet because he doesn't show on Dingwall's (at least when they showed dealers). A couple of years ago he sold his business to a fairly large local store in my town who only know Fenders. He generally has a couple of Combustion's and 1 ABZ in stock. The local store may or may not have 1 Combustion hanging on the wall and no one in the store really knows anything about them. Weird situation.

There are Dingwalls at the L and M on terminal here in Canuck-city. I think that he sold 2 the day he started carrying them. More and more people are getting hip the wonder of Sheldon's creations.
We are pretty lucky here in UK, Bass Direct apparently has the world largest stock of Dingwall basses and his supply from the factory is pretty regular, they must be selling very well here:
It's not much different here. The area GC's carry the usual stuff. The independent stores have even less. Closest Dingwall shop to me would be Bass NW in Seattle. I couldn't find one to try in Oregon before I bought my first.
Online shopping has changed everything. I see a very tough road ahead for bricks and mortar music stores. Couple that with the low wage retail environment, and you get your average music store experience. The only time I've spent in GC's over the past years were the few minutes it takes to walk in a pick up an item I've already paid for and had shipped to the nearest store. And that is just to avoid sales tax.
I don't expect them to know anything other than how to work the cash register and where the bathroom is located. If i have time to kill i might try a pedal or amp, but im more likely to buy one used off TB and resell it or trade it if i dont like it. Retail in the online age.

I only go to GC to try stuff out. Basses, amps, etc. Since they're the only place around with any real variety.
Every time I see those pictures of Bass Direct, it blows my mind. One could spend endless days in there!

Exactly - don't say what you don't know and you do the customer a better service than giving an answer that is wrong.
Again, this isn't just the right perspective, it's the only one that should even be considered an option.

I'll be sure to share some pics. In fact, while I'll be working hard (espesically the first couple of days), like I did at Musikmesse last year, I'll be instagramming pics while going from meeting to meeting. I'm Smalleq on instagram if you want to follow along. Will mostly be basses and effects pedals.
The triple pickup option is available on everything but the Super P, Lee Sklar, and Combustion models. I've oft debated ABXXX5 or Super P/FD3 4 string for my next Dingwall.
Just another reason to be jealous of anyone who lives in Vancouver.
