I have been a. Loyal rickenbacker man for quite sometime. I never got to play a dingwall. Today I ordered a Dingwall Combustion from Bass Central. I figured if I didn't like it I wouldn't be in too deep. But I heard that once I play it I will not play anything else. Will post pics when I receive the bass.

I started playing bass on a 4001. I sold my 75 Ric a couple of months back.
I play the Dings full time now. And seriously considering letting go of a last few non-Dings in the house, because I just don't play them.
No one can say if you'll add a Dingwall to the stable to have that option, or run Dings fulltime, except you.
Looking forward to your impressions.

I did this a while back. Sold my PRS, my fretless Fender Jazz and my 1973 Precision. I don't miss any of them. The only non-Dingwall I now have is my 92/3 MIA Fender Jazz. I keep it as a sole 4 string, and because it was my main player for so long and so many shows. It resides 'under the bed' for real.
I've been GAS-ing (DAS-ing?) something crazy lately for a Super P5. That pink one with the all wengé neck really ticked all the boxes for me. I have also been eyeing a PZ5.
BTW, Haken's 2013 album "The Mountain" has some terrific bass tone, recorded with an ABZ 6, I believe.

Bocete - Just to let you know, using that freshly gained motivation, last weekend I took a couple of faster/more complicated songs that I usually play on the fretted AB2 and moved them to the fretless AB2. After working it a little in rehearsal I went all in and played them on Sunday and killed it. I've gained more confidence and am starting to explore the fretless more. Thank you!

and I'm dying to get my ABZ ahahah!
I stopped by the booth yesterday and spent a good deal of time playing that Afterburner as well as the Super P/FD3; that Afterburner is REALLY heavy (I'd guess 12 pounds) as the body is solid bubinga, but it sounds INCREDIBLE
It's essentially a prototype, and according to Barry the final versions will be a pound or two lighter.
P tone in the neck position has some amazingly clear and growly precision sounds, and the dual FD3's in series wiring just has an absurd amount of punch and burp.
Yet another winner from Sheldon and Co.
well today i jumped into the dingwall world so to speak. I just sold a Brubaker KXB5 and was looking for another bass . I ended up getting a used combustion 5 in a tobacco burst with a rosewood board, gigbag included.And i just now finally was able to put it down after playing it for the last two hours. WOW!!!!!!!!! I GET IT!!!! I finally know what all the buzz is about ! this is absoultly the best B string i have ever heard. I was always nervous about trying fanned frets but it was all for not. it was a 5 minute transition. This one is a series one i guess . it doesnt have the active passive switch. and i don't know if it has the b booster or not. the b string is slightly less loud than the other strings but just barely.can i get a club number THERE IS NO TURNING BACK NOW!!!!!!

Practiced with the Super P tonight. It gets the call tomorrow for 'church'. Set list includes Our God, Lift High, Beautiful, Here's my Heart, and the fabulous My Redeemer Lives (Reuben Morgan). Among others. It definitely has the "P bass vibe' going on.!!!
"My Redeemer Lives" is one of our favorites! I think I'm going to use the SJ/P5 in 'OMG' mode (series).
I also was able to get my hands on a combustion. When I got back home yesterday it was awaiting my presence. I didn't have any time to mess with it before my gig. Straight out of the box, shipped from Seattle to my door in western KY, it arrived in tune. Made it to the church in time for sound check. This particular place likes bass plugged direct. This might just be the best bass I've heard running straight to the system. Impressive quality, tone, and feel for being a chinese made Dingwall. LOVE it. Now we'll see what happens when the Ferarri Green NG-2's start shipping 
Welcome to the Dingwall Club Johnny. Pretty sure you can still get the B Booster kit for something like 10.00. Really simple to do, it'll take longer to take your strings off than to add the kit. Only tool needed is a screwdriver to remove your pick up cover. it really made my B string come alive.
