Not sure about the NYXL ones, but I strung up my ABZ 6 with a set of XS multiscale strings and the low B is tapered

Can I get a rundown of the differences between the different types of Dingwall pickups? Has anyone made demos of all the different kinds in the same bass?
I really love my SP1, but I so missed having a Canadian made bass, so I grabbed this beauty. The wenge neck is just perfection and I absolutely love the tone.
BUT, I am having a little difficulty with finding the right or best way wear this thing!! I am working on losing my gut, and I have a feeling that will help, but that may take a few months!
For those with experience with DROCs, Is there a best type of strap for these? My straps are thick and they don't seem to work well. Also. is it best to reverse the top end of the strap so that it faces opposite to how it would for a horn strap pin?
Any help would be much appreciated!!

I bought another strap to have the pin facing out.
If you hang low and don’t mind a little twist. The usual (pin facing inside) should work too.
Also, I got the gator guitar stand GFW-GTR-1500. Normal stands wouldn’t work.

Ultimate Support GS-100 works for everything except ones without a headstock. Unless it's the new Dingwall with the new fangled flip outs that makes them work too.

Something I never thought I'd be able to type: my 2nd Prima is on it's way. #7410, figured redwood burl with wenge and flamed maple contrast layers, walnut and flamed maple "halves" for the dual-density setup. Prima-specific pickups, Neve preamp, S/P toggles. Neck is 5 piece, flamed maple, wenge, maple topped with ebony fretboard and the very cool Prima "smoke" inlay. Family photo probably tomorrow evening or day after, depending.

Thanks for the input. I have a very similar stand. I’m not surprised that the bottom resting types don’t work.
I’m not a fan of hanging low, but I can see that I may have to do that until I lose a few pounds.

They're interesting, because they're (more) asymmetrically wound than any other Dingwall pickup. The treble side is wound like an FD3, but the bass side is an exclusive winding. The lows sound clearer and snappier overall. If it were an option, getting these in my Zs across the board would be ideal, but, the FDVs are a good alternative.
The D-Roc was designed with the intention that the strap lock would be installed on the strap through the back. Basically the opposite of the way it would be installed for a standard bass. The picture shown was from a shop tour with a strap not setup for the D-Roc model. Let me know if any of you fine folks have any more questions about this. Happy to help.

Thanks Ryan!! That is exactly what I did with a second strap I have and it seems to work well like that.
did not think about the alberta part. canadian made avoid the word that can not be said die to old trade agreements (which may expire this year… before the order ships, who knows).
i have a friend in the usa who magically has nice basses show up pn his door that he does not pay for. and he happens to bring them to me on family trips to canada.
