How'd you find buying from Bass Freaks? I was looking at picking something up from him but he was kinda rude about it and it also looks like his instagram is filled with Manosphere BS.
Makes me hesitate.

How'd you find buying from Bass Freaks? I was looking at picking something up from him but he was kinda rude about it and it also looks like his instagram is filled with Manosphere BS.
Makes me hesitate.
I was talking to the other guy on whatsapp, he was nice, took some pictures and videos for me, tested the balance of the bass and so on. After I bought it the main guy - the one who runs the instagram - messaged me too saying thanks for supporting them. He was nice to me as well. They had a very chill, "talking in a pub with friends vibe", thhat could be weird for some people, but regarding the sale everything went well and smoothly.
Heres a quick comparison I did on my 3 basses showing the fretboard to body distance with measuring tape, and showing how much of my fingers fit under the strings easily.
In regards to your NG3 it has a pickguard which decreases that distance a bit. All I can say again is make a slap-ramp.
That pickguard is custom, so i know that its 2mm, therefore the ABZ is still way higher. If i dont get used to it i will just return it in the 14 days window. Unfortunately I wouldnt keep a bass of this value if i have to compromise on something.

Love ramps, put them on all my basses. However, I am doing finger ramps, they get radiused to the board and prevents you from digging in too much.
What exactly is the purpose of a slap ramp? It has me intrigued. If the issue is too much space for fingers, does the slap ramp limit popping the D string? I also have zero issues slapping and double-thumping my Dingwalls. Currently only have my old ABZ though.

Can confirm. Back in December I ordered an AB with FDV/SFII/FDV pickup configuration. Got a call last week from my dealer because Dingwall informed him that combo would damage the pickups. So now it will be all FDVs.
Also took it as a good sign about the availability of FDVs... although there's still about 18 months to go before my baby arrives, so anything could happen.
I've been so happy with the used 2-pickup (FDVs) ABI that I got for a great price, though, that I've wondered whether I should do something different with my custom order, like go with a 6 string or jump to an Effigy instead. Argh!

I already had an AB1 (and a Combustion before that, all three within one year!), but this one has a Wengé neck, which plays and sounds even better (to me) than the Maple on the other. And: it’s Purple!
It’s a bit of a Frankenbass: it’s active but that was done later, which means the single battery is crammed into the cavity, not neatly accessible behind the magnet hatch. I think it’s a Darkglass pre.
Also, the previous owner told me the neck has been back at the factory to redo the fretboard under warranty, or something. Plays like a dream now.
I know the faux abalone stickers from neck illusions are a love or hate thing, I love ‘m, I only wish I had put them on aligned proper.
Combined with a Shiftline Olympic tube preamp pedal, a Euphonic Audio iAmp 1200 and a Vanderkley 2x12, it’s everything I always heard in my head but never achieved until now.

Outdoor gig yesterday, was hotter than normal, but was able to quench my thirst, playing at a brewery definitely has it's perks, especially in the PNW.
NG3 sounded great, best B string in the business, even better than the SP1, no surprise given the extra string length, even though it's big and heavyish (9.2 pounds), it does the job handily, and even with classic Dad rock and funk.

That's neat. Is that sparkly purple? Hard to tell from the photo.
Yes, but it’s a very fine grain, not the superwild metal flake. Without really bright lights, it’s easy to mistake for black.
I guess while purple is the hot topic I’ll share a random occurrence that happened to me this week.
I traded off a Spector for 2 production Dingwall’s.
An SP1 and a NG3 6 in blue/purple matte colour shift.
Bryan at LeRoux music is a killer guy who’s really working on making his store the place for boutique instruments in Calgary.
If your ever in town here and need to visit a music store check it out.
He’s stocking strings, PGs, whatever swag he can get his hands on, etc.

I wouldn't call it flake, but it has some mild sparkles going on. I dig the purple more than most of the other colors, understated and different.
Currently have it with SFII's in the neck and middle, and PTone in the bridge. This bass was really bright with the FD3n and wanted to mellow it out with the SFII in the neck (which I almost exclusively play solo'd). I think I want a little more character, so may try to find some time to swap it out.

Perhaps try swapping neck and bridge pickups for a P-tone neck and SFII bridge. That's a pretty common and well-like configuration. They have the same wind direction and polarity (the middle pickup is opposite) so the swap shouldn't cause any issues.
