No. We as older folk 59+ I’ve saved I deserve the best you’ve all seen my Z-3/6. Wait till my Z3-5 comes in December/Jan. Fretnation he’s my JZ hero ! Only good part of a 2 year wait is paying it off way before it comes so I’m good ! Z 4 me only Might get a 4 string who knows. Life’s short

It’s even better put together than I imagined.
It ended my GAS. It’s weird. As great as the DROC is, I wondered if something was still missing with the bass not being active. It’s still the best passive bass I have ever played, but the JT is another level completely.
My first brand new NG3. What a bass!

Hi Everyone, I want to share that I have begun analyzing the frequencies of some of my basses, including my 5 string Z3 with SF2s and Darkglass preamp. Currently using the stick analyzer in Logic Pro iOS. I have an SSL Big Six mixer that connects directly to my iPad via USB C. I am plugging basses directly into one of the “SuperAnalogue” inputs aka input with a preamp. Leaving everything flat, keeping gain reasonably low. I am playing notes across the strings and neck to get a good sampling. So far, it is clear that the SF2 is focused on the fundamental and first several harmonics and then the frequency content starts to decrease at higher harmonics. So, it is a really focused sound. I wouldn’t say that behavior changes with higher notes. So, rather than thinking of pickups in terms of eq type settings , it has me thinking more around what harmonics due they emphasize. I have had a busy week so apologies on taking a bit to get started on this but I will check out my Super too. I will also see if there are other ways to visualize the frequencies.
One other quick observation, I didn’t see the frequency response really change when I turned on the preamp, it made everything louder, so maybe that is what accounts for me thinking a mids are emphasized more when I turn on the DGTC.

When I first picked up my JT, I was struck by how well the neck was carved and how immaculate the frets feel. The solidity of the pots and rotary pickup selector is rock solid. This is the best put together bass I have owned since my Ken Smith/Modulus days with the exception of the sweet Pedulla I owned for a few years.
I hope anyone who wonders why a “China made” bass costs so much gets to really play a Chinese Dingwall. As I said before, I really want to check out a few fully Canadian made Dingwalls because I am sure their build quality is in the MTD, Fodera, Ken Smith class.

So, I was just window shopping on reverb and I came across two "too good to be true" prices on two JT3-5's from Ish. BTW, I have to affiliation with ish or either of these sales ads.

I was thinking maybe they messed up the price, so I messaged them to ask if that price was correct.
Here was the reply.

Anyways, while I'm tempted, I'm really trying to scale back so I thought I'd share here, mostly so they both sell and don't have a moment of weakness that translates into an unexpected NBD...

My summer is fairly busy, so Sept onward is when we'd have to target. I can check with all the contacts I have for venues to host from when I did the PacNW bass gtg stuff several years ago, just need a head count before I start the wheels in motion.

This is pretty surprising. In my NG3 going from passive to active gives an extremely different tonal character. There’s a very clear scoop in the lower mids/upper bass and what seems to be an upper high end extension with the DGTC ON but everything set flat. I wonder… if the import model DGTC is different than the domestic one? Mine with everything set flat a just a smidge quieter vs passive.
That being said, I VASTLY prefer the passive tone for Neck/Bridge in parallel (or if I do the old swap pickups around trick) Neck/Bridge in series. It’s pretty rare that I kick the preamp on honestly.
I have always felt that the upper mids get boosted when I have the DGTC on (set flat). I will do some more testing, change the scale on the analyzer and see if I can get a better view of everything for the next round.
