Dingwall Owners Club

Well I've had the Z3 for a week now. The original E string was faulty and I only received a replacement yesterday. I completely understand why you guys talk about selling all your other basses. I played it with the band in Church on Sunday night and even with the bad string, it was still amazing. I had the overwhelming sensation that I could see no reason to keep the others (and I have some very nice basses). I'm waiting to wake from the dream and realise I've missed something. Whenever I play the others, I hear faults I didn't know were there before. The only thing I don't like is the bridge/middle pickups being wired together in series. I think having them in parallel will work much better for me. I'm guessing that will be fairly easy to rectify.

Exciting news, I got a heads up that my bass should begin construction soon and be ready in 6-8 weeks!

New body style SJ 5 in Fiesta Red with a Parchment pg (extra BP pg),Glockenklang 3-band preamp, Maple neck and a Maple fb w/ White Pearloidblock markers and Matching headstock.

I'm glad the timing allowed me to get the 3-band pre.

Hey ModuMan, how long had you been waiting when you got the "in construction" email? My SPJ5 should hopefully be at that stage soon as well.

Something tells me HIS keyboard player doesn't have to worry about carrying it!!;)
I've got one who grouses about having to bring a speaker and amp...although its about 1/5th the size of mine...then spends all night complaining about not being able to hear himself when he decides to not bring it. It's like clockwork. I get a call or text or email that says "do you really think I need to bring an amp tonight...I really don't want to have to to move it". To which I reply "do what you want, but the last time we played there, you couldn't hear yourself". Then he shows up without one and proceeds to not hear himself all night, then acts frustrated when I just shrug.

BTW, the other part of the story is that the amp and cab he uses are MINE. He's never gone out and bought his own although he's played keys in 2 bands with me for nearly 10 years. Always talkin' about buying never doing it.

I'd have to look up the exact date but I placed the order some time in October. So, six months and change? I don't know if that's typical but I get the impression they hit a break in SJ production that allowed them to make the new body and electronics options available to current orders.

There's always one like that, isn't there? :banghead:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] I'm messing around with the photo posting tools. I wish I could take photos like the Dingwall shop puts together!

My Super J, now a Super P/J. Now strung with TI jazz flats.

It's going to be well worth the wait.

I actually never search YouTube for myself or any of the bands I play in, I'm always pretty critical of my playing or my 'Bass faces", but this was our first show since getting back together a few weeks ago. You can actually hear the bass in places!! From 5:55 to about 6:20 is pretty good footage of a pretty decent bass I own...LOL! The last song in the vid is one of our original tunes!

Umm, I'm pretty much speechless!:nailbiting:

Verrrry nice! The bit of lighter wood on the headstock gives it great character.

I'll probably be waiting a while longer. Alas!
