Dingwall Owners Club

This just showed up with a stacked knob setup for EQ and a new blend pot. I'm hoping to have it wired 18v, assuming it will fit in the cavity.

Invalid Link Removed

Took the Voodoo Prima along to our gig last night but it wasn't in playable condition. The neck although having some relief in it (more than I have in my Z1) and the action not being terribly low was getting fret buzz and some sort of mwahish fret noise as well.

I wasn't looking for this to be a project, but I guess it is. I'm guessing it's about 2+ months out for bench time. I can do competent basic setup, but I'm not sure I'm game to suss out things if there's going more than relief action and intonation.

Although @Noylin was there and did get a chance to check it out...just to make sure it's real. ;)

It's real and it's spectacular!

Always fun spending an evening in front of your bass rig @BurningSkies, I think my insides are still vibrating a little :)

I like that soundman...he doesn't fight the bass, but he brings up the subs underneath a bit. It was great to hear Kevin do a bunch of the original John Brown's Body material that I love, and even nicer that he came up and did Babylon Tree with us. That was a total surprise. Also nice to have Jocko from More Sound Studio on hand percussion. He's producing the new record, and I think it might help him get a feel for what we do to be in the middle of it on stage.

Its killing me a little inside to have a new bass but not be able to really play it yet...and know that's its probably a few months out to have things done on it.

I have also wondered if they are available sans-guard...

Guys, I know some of you get irritated by my countdown of my SJ5XXX order, and as I've said I'm not complaining, it's how I choose to deal with the wait.

That said, and as I have relayed before, mine will be transparent white, maple neck/board, 3 P tone PUPs, 3 series/parallel switches, black dot markers/hardware, and PICKGUARD DELETE. So yes, no pickguard on a SJ5XXX is a no-cost option

Irritated? I didn't even realize you were doing a countdown. But then, I'm working on about 3 hours of sleep between a post gig bedtime of 3.30 and my alarm going off at 6.20 this morning to go to work.

:) So just for you, 27 weeks to go. Oh, I forgot, also blue luminlay side dots

Every time I hear a time quote in weeks I think about how lucky everyone is these days. Sheldon's totally got his workflow way down to a science now. The wait for my bass was 151 weeks. ;) It was worth every week of that.

.......... ;)
Nice! I'm not sure if our basses differ, I had to get pretty creative to fit both batteries without routing. If all else fails I would still have it wired for both batteries and fab up a jumper(9volt connector w/ the leads soldered together) so the option is more easily available down the line.
Good luck with the project, looking forward to seeing it unfold!

A seriously fancy Super J being assembled in Saskatoon:

The patheticness probably never ends. After I get my SJ5XXX, I've already had thoughts of an ABIIXXX build. The only thing that would stop me is the fact that I love my ABI, and its 8.1 lb weight. There's probably no way to get an ABIIXXX that light.
