I think I'm in the last few weeks of waiting for my NG-2...the excitement and anticipation is killing me! I can't wait to become a Dingwall owner and player.

I'm planning on putting it in drop G right away. I'm going to do as Nolly does and sit in drop G when the guitarists in my band are in drop C.

Just ordered up a OBP-2 for the Voodoo Prima, along with a new blend pot, stacked bass/treble and an extra battery clip. I really like the OBP-1 in my Voodoo/Zebra (18v) and while the 2 had a slightly higher treble frequency, I roll that off anyway. Besides if I hate it, I'll take it out and look at something like the Glock 2 band. I'm going to take the ol' broad in for a check up in the next few weeks anyway and see if it needs a touch on the frets, etc. so I might as well do it all at once.

Is there someone in this neck of the woods you trust with your DWs? I don't need anything done to my ABZ, but it's good to know if there's a trustworthy tech nearby!

Is there someone in this neck of the woods you trust with your DWs? I don't need anything done to my ABZ, but it's good to know if there's a trustworthy tech nearby!

In the past Matt Sanderson up in Oswego has done some really nice non-dingwall work for me. He did a great job on my Telecaster not so long ago including having to chip out a poorly installed nut that was heavily superglued in place in the beautiful Brazilian rosewood slab board. Unfortunately he's not taking new work. The only other guy that people in town trust with really high value and/or rare instruments is Terry in Manlius. He's done enough solid work for me to feel OK with it, and I'll be very specific about things.

I'm going to play the bass tomorrow night for our show with Kevin Kinsella & Analogue Sons and see how it goes. I'll bring the Rastaburst and have it up on stage with me as well. If I get into our set and am not totally comfortable, I'll just switch out.

When I play the bass acoustically, I get a sort of chorusy mwah in some places although it's not the same thing as a fret buzz. I haven't heard the sound come through when it's amplified, but I'd like to suss out what it is, no matter how minor. Also, I should be able to straighten the neck a bit more and drop the action a bit further. The Rastaburst is a bit lower and flatter, so I'm going to see if we can come close to matching the action. This is probably in the same range as my AB1 was.

For the players that like the "P" experience, the Super P or J basses look great! But my thinking was like yours as I have an ABII on order with wenge neck, but with the Darkglass pre. I am a fan of that more aggressive attitude and mids control and I don't personally use pedals. But your use of the Darkglass B7K does amount to the same thing tonally and for those that like to use a pedal may be the better solution as it does give the best of both worlds.

Yeah exactly. I haven't ruled out a Super P or Super J with P-tone in my future, just not the near future (too broke and not playing in enough bands to warrant it)
I wanted my ABI to be as flexible as possible, a Swiss Army knife if you will. I know the inherent danger of trying to get one bass to do many different things well (eg: a MM is never going to sound like a P bass no matter how hard you try).

I just rewired the bridge pickup in series and left the middle pickup in parallel. Not only did it improve the J Position setting but it also helped the Musicman setting, Position 3 ... Middle Bridge.

I am trying to remove what I call the "Spector Tone". To me Spector Euros sound kinda nasal. Not my thing.

With careful tone management, a nice amp and a full range bass cab the Spector Euro can be adjusted where this type of tone is not the prevalent. Shipped from the factory usually the inside trimpot is way too hot. Turning that down results in a much better and cleaner sound. That said, many Spector guys are going for the same pre that Dingwall offers, the Darkglass. I am planning to put one in my Euro. And I love the ability to order it stock with the Dingwalls.

Does that show the manufacture date, or is there just a sequential list at Dingwall where they can look it up? I have an email in to Sheldon.

I thought they all had the neutrik jack, this one doesn't.

Is this a club that gives out numbers? If so I need one. Is a photo required of the bass?

They are random from what I understand.

None of the combustions do.

I don't think any of the imports have neutrik jacks, just the Canada models.

There's a band called Riverside who's album Second Life Syndrome perfectly illustrates what I call the "Spector Tone". To tell you the truth I don't even know if the BP used a Spector, but my personal experience with those that I've played provided that exact tone. I mean no disrespect to folks that like that tone. I absolutely do not. Fundamentally I love the way my Dingwall ABs play, I just have to mod and EQ them to sound the way I want.

Question on Canada Dingwall's...does anyone have or know if Sheldon would be a Canadian "NG 2"? Basically...say...an AB1 2X with the DG preamp. No series/parallel toggles or anything. Just a 4 way rotary, master (push/pull) and the 3 DG tone controls.

Available as a 3x or a standard (2x) pickup config. There always has to be a neck pickup on an Afterburner model.

Yeah, it was a great buy. I got it this morning. I won't have a chance to plug it into a good bass rig until tomorrow. Sounds great acoustically.

Got a little crazy and ordered some goodies to go with it. xtender double stop, fresh set of strings, Dingwall bass strap with a set of dunlop strap locks, some other stuff I forget. About $300 worth of extras to get me going.

I just recently purchased a Green NG-2 now I find myself really wanting to order the pink one.

I know they are making a 6 string combustion. I wonder if a 6 string NG-2 will be available?
