BB has it right, to do or not to do was the question. My time with the block markers was too short for me to say with any certainty. FWIW, the Master recommended blocks during the design process, he recommended not doing black, rather some understated but exotic wood. I explained my design goal was a bass in black and white only and the topic was dropped.
My ABI has a blank wenge board, but I primarily play it at home because it is passive and I often pick it up several times a day, so I like not continuously plugging and unplugging it. So maybe my block marker helping navigate while learning/doing vocals is a rationalization, I really never look at the face of the board, it's always the side dots if anything at all.
Maybe what I really need to do is to learn how to photoshop, and if I like the looks with blocks vs dots, make the decision that way. Can anyone tell me how hard photoshop is to learn?
