@Sheldon D. is one of the finest individuals in the business, and I'm not surprised to see that his customers and products represent him equally well.

Sheldon has ALWAYS gone above and beyond, and I'm a small fish in a really big pond. He's also been very gracious and graceful with all the contact I've had over the years and particularly with tech and advice as I've been rehabbing the old Voodoo I just adopted. Again, I'm sure he thinks I'm mostly nuts.

*on the amp side of things, Jule Potter is another person who just consistently and regularly surpasses my expectations and generally accepted levels of awesome-dudeness too.

Yep. This is not the first time for me either. I switched out the ones on my AB previously.

If you want good fun (and talkin' about crazy dude) Sheldon sent me 4 sets of neck bolts with different finishes to try out at one point. I later spec'ed a specific finish on the Rastaburst when it was made.

Actually, the new ones I can't see the damned 'dot' on the face of the knob when I'm playing! The old ones the 'dot' was convex and I could tell my levels just by looking down at the bass, now to see the concave 'dot' I have to lift the bass up a bit to see it. It's only important because I don't crank my bass volume all the way up, but have it set at about 2/3rds of the way so I can bring the volume up or down. Old habits die hard...so if I can get a set of the 'convex marker' knobs it will make a difference on stage.

I noticed that the diameter of the new ones is slightly larger, but that doesn't really matter to me.

You could also get a Luminlay knob... though that would change the look of the bass. Or get some Luminlay and inlay it into the existing knob.

And...I was just typing this in and thought to read the rest of the posts. I think this a fantastic idea. I ordered all the basses from Sheldon with the Luminlay side dots - it would be ultra nice to have knobs with these as well.

I was just about to place an order for a large group of "other" basses when I decided to switch to the Dingwalls. To me, it means the ultimate in the industry to have the type of service combined with quality that he provides. I couldn't get this elsewhere.

Too bad no plastic. They have 6mm or 1/4", do either work for Dingwall?

I mostly want to see it in person - the pics look pretty good. I don't normally subscribe that tone woods play a huge impact to the sound, but it'd be interesting to see/feel that walnut body.

And I would be more concerned with the weight, when I was thinking about an ABII build, I would have preferred a swamp ash option to keep weight down, part of the reason I went SJ5XXX instead.

AB II's are chambered aren't they? I thought I read somewhere that they are fairly light.

An ABIIXXX was going to be 8.5 lbs+, still light, but after DTS bought his SP5 back, I needed a relacement, I've never seen an SJ5XXX at anything under custom build pricing, so I'm having one built my way.

I like these. Anyone here installed them on anything? Tips or tricks? I certainly have one bass that I could tset on.

It's a giant bass pyramid scheme. Soon you'll be plotting for a fully optioned Prima Artist. That's how the Dingwall-addiction-ladder works. Those AB's are fantastic basses...and the Z's are even more fantastic, but we shouldn't probably mention the Primas...

I can't ever afford a Prima. Heck, it'll be hard to justify a new Canadian Dingwall of any variety. I'd like to have a Prima... but the chances of me owning one are nil.
