Dingwall Owners Club

Dingwall friends, I'm totally spamming you. There's a 'March Madness' NY State Music bracket happening and I'd appreciate it if anyone could take a moment to go and vote for my band Root Shock. We're in the 4th bracket.

NYS Music March Madness 2016, Round 1

And of course, my band is here: Root SHOCK

Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you. I appreciate it. : ) we don't usually do much of the 'popularity contest' stuff, but this outfit is actually a good source of promotion.

Also, I feel very much thankful that out of all the bands in the NYS region that these people cover (pretty much everything north of the greater NYC range) that are out in the trenches, we're one of the 64 'ready to break through' choices.

Thanks everyone for the being ignored here in this group and my simple question.. makes me know that I won't be coming back to visit with this group.. real helpful folks here I can see!

Um, I'm sorry that you didn't get the response that you were looking for. I can certainly say it's not because people are ignoring you, but often the thread moves quickly so there's lots of chatter, and that even so, the TC hasn't been in circulation that long or that widely, so the reality may just be that people have no experience with it in an Afterburner.

Well, I have an AB1 and I have not put a Darkglass Tone Capsule in it. Yes, my response is utterly useless and probably annoying. Isn't it much better if I just keep my mouth shut on the subject? Don't take silence as a personal insult.

I own several Spector basses, they all have the TC in them! I have played the NG2 the other day.. wow! Sounds great! I know that the predominately that the Tone Capsule loves passive pups over active pups! This is why I felt that the AB1 might be a great candidate for the project, but before I started, I was hoping one of you all would have knowledge of someone trying it or having done it themselves.. ..

As for a thread moving fast.. this one don't move near as fast as the Spector group.. miss a couple of days there and you will be reading Tens of pages just trying to get caught back up!

Would you rather that everyone who doesn't have any experience with that combination weigh-in to tell you that they have nothing to tell you?

Maybe do some searches, find folks who DO have that combination and then send them a PM?

The DBird is still appealing to me - I'd love to strap one on to see how Dingwall's take on it balances and plays. I'm still not sure I could get away with B/E/A/D tuning.

Hey, @Sheldon D. - want to send one of the DBirds to my PacNW Get Together? :D
2016 PacNW Bass Player's GTG! May 14th. All invited!

Not sure I like the name D-Bird, too close to D-Bag. LOL

Seriously, I know that Thunderbirds have a huge fan base, but I have never been one of them. I think the Thunderbird and most variants are very fugly. This one that Sheldon has prototyped is as good looking as one could get, except for the one with the reverse P headstock, which is way cooler.

I apologize that this thread and it's membership doesn't live up to your expectation. : )

You may find that many Dingwall owners haven't modified their instruments and it's harder to find people who have done what you're looking to do. Still, the tone capsule has been around for about a year, give or take...not that long in the grand scheme of things. Although I personally take it as a vote of confidence on the part of Dingwall Afterburner owners that they haven't felt the need to add them to their instruments.

Good luck in your quest.

I saw your original post with your inquiry, Doc. I don't know of anyone who has done so. I am not omniscient, hence was waiting to see if anyone had done so without informing me. ;)

Thank you sir, I have been given what I was looking for and it was good enough to make me decide that the project is worth moving forward with.. thanks to @graphics1988 for his kindness in providing some links from Facebook!

That was all I was looking for, knowledge that someone knew of someone having done it or they themselves had done it.. sometimes folks just need to be woke up! I am not offended by any of it! You all Dingwall on! And peace be with ya! I'm out!

I had a couple AB-1s and I really liked the passive blueqube tone circuit. I was never tempted to add any of the onboard pre amps.

Both my Super Jp's had pre amps, one Aguilar, one Glock, and I almost never engaged them. I really like the hybrid tone control in passive mode for the Super Jp 5 string.

As far as adding Darkglass mojo to a passive Dingwall, I used the B3k micro tubes.

Short answer is: no on the tone capsule.

If I was speccing a new Dingwall I'd stay with passive electronics and blow the preamp dough on a pretty Birdseye fingerboard with pearl blocks and Luminlay dots. I'd get the P tone in the neck position, too.

Of course, ymmv!

That Tone Capsule and the B3K don't have that much in common! I am not about dirt in my tone, growl yeah.. but I like a really clean growly tone! P Tone ain't my thing either

I ordered the Darkglass pre in the ABZ so it should be standard and I will put an email in to Sheldon in the morning asking about wiring diagrams for a retrofit for you. Since he offers it as standard, I would think it available. Sorry I didn't get this done sooner but I was putting together a new order including the Seca Blue and it has taken me a couple of days to get it done.
