For me, having the vol knob is something that I would rather have over the blend.. cuz honestly, I don't use the blend, I have a habit of putting it in the middle and leaving it there, never to touch it again!

But (for me) I'd think twice about giving up the ability to solo the neck pickup; if you get a P-Tone, you're going to want access to that!

In my case (on my Z2) I omitted the volume knob, but kept a blend.

Whichever fits the bass to your needs the best...

EXACTLY. When playing my one Dingwall with a blend, I tend to play adjust it every once and a while, and then realize from that, that the sweet spot is exactly in the middle, and then I go a long time before trying again.

I do miss the traditional VVT set up sometimes on the PJ. Not enough to set about changing it, but I always found blending the pups to be useful for sorting out room issues. Most of the time I would favor one or the other on my jazz basses. With the P pup, it's all well and good to solo the P, but if it were two J's I'd definitely miss the blend. On the Z3, I tend to only use soloed pups in series. On the PJ, I usually choose between the series OR parallel depending on room response rather than using them both in the same night. Kind of the same thing I guess as blending to one side of center.

I'm right with you as I seldom touch mine from center.
I am now wanting a Super J (or PJ) exotic 4 string.

Thanks! Its such a silly thing, really a popularity contest, but it will be good press if we place well. :) Last night we had the Dogfish Head people promo our show and afterwards the regional rep and I had a discussion and it looks like he may want to do some kind of dual promotional arrangement for the region too. That's a pretty sweet thing.
