The bridge and middle pick ups are hard wired in series, acting like one pick up. So my options will be neck, all three in series, neck in parallel with middle and bridge in series, and mid and bridge in series.
I'd REALLY like to hear this since I'm considering adding a 3rd pickup (a P-Tone in the neck position) to my Z2

Oooooooh!! Would you replace the Barts with FD3's as well?
I'd probably start with a P-Tone as the front pickup, and leave the two Barts wired together in series as the rear "pickup".

I'm too cheap to drop $450 on new pickups unless it's absolutely essential, and I've been liking the Barts so far.
I'm a fan of mids, and they don't seem quite as "transparent" sounding as the FD-3's -- but then a series-wired P-Tone isn't very transparent either!

I like where you are going with this. That 3X pickup group wired like you have it going through the Darkglass should sound amazing. The bridge and middle wired in series is like a massive humbucker.

I knew it was juat a matter of time til y'all figured out a way to optimize the XXX configuration with the 4 way rotary. Sadly for me electronics is all black magic, as is skillful soldering. Today is the milestone 18 weeks, or 1\2 way towards my SJ5XXX :wideyed:

The shop has a specific 4 way switch for the three pick up models. I could have ordered one of those, but decided against it. I dont ever use the parallel setting, so it didnt make any sense. If I could design my own switch it would have all the options for series combinations and solo combinations on the three pick ups. As it is, I never really use the bridge soloed out either. While I might miss the middle solo'ed, I think having the hard wired bucker will suit me best.

Exactly; gotta fit the options to what's most useful for you!

When I first got my Z2, it had some goofy resistors and caps on the volume pot that was KILLING the highs, so my initial thought was that I wanted to brighten up the bass a bit.
Thus, I was OK with hardwiring the combined coils to parallel via the blend pot.

But now that I got rid of those resistors and caps, the sound opened up a LOT.

I'm going to experiment with series and parallel settings of my existing two pickups and see if I'd miss (what will be) the soloed center pickup.

It'll also depend on how the levels compare between the Barts and the P-Tone; I'll go with whichever one balances best.

But I might seek out a 5-position rotary switch to have "Strat-like" coil combinations possible...

Could always go nuts and get an 11 position rotary switch...

There's a handful of 3P 5T rotary switches out there. Not cheap, and some have 3 decks, which I'm not sure yet would fit in the control cavity.

Edit: Here's shorter one that should have no issue at all fitting:

(scroll to the 3P5T for 3x setups)
