If I run into buzz it's from trying to keep the neck flat and it's almost always on the G side of the neck.

The truss rod and neck on this bass had some serious problems, but they have been addressed. Neck has the proper relief now, intonation is spot on. I just found that the B string was too close to the fretboard for my taste, so I raised the action. The B string is now noticeably higher than the others, but it is by no means unplayable. The volume of the B string is still comparable to the others as well, so the extra height hasn't moved the string far enough away from the pickups to make a difference.

My original question was just a feeler to see if others had a similar experience. Looks like no?

The height of the nut does not matter if you're fretting the neck. I own two Dingwalls, a Combustion and an AB-II, both with perfect B strings.

I'd suggest technique. All it takes is for you to attack the strings towards the body a bit more than usual and the B string will stand out in terms of feel and sound. This might be caused by the distance between the strings and the body being different than what you're used to. It seems like you're raising the B string because it seems to be too low. If you're slamming strings towards the body, thicker strings will anchor your fingers whenever you're playing anything other than a B, and they won't feel as low. You don't get that with a B.

That's just guessing, though.

Yep, also had a quick change of heart and the chrome blue SPJ5 is back up. I picked it up quickly before locking down a deal that landed me a dream SPJ5, and though I'd like to keep it, the swaps have left me a bit over extended. Smeet can vouch for how great the bass is, and the only reason it is going is because I can't bear to part with my Z3 and the other SPJ5 is the one I really wanted. Was hoping the upright would sell so I could keep the Dingwalls, but looks like that market is stagnant right now.

HA HA...yet I tried. If I hadn't of spent 18K on NEW basses, I may would be interested in your 5-er so I could string it EADGC - been wanting to do that for a while.
I could't imagine giving up the G string. I guess playing style has a lot to do with it and I don't think I will love it but I may just try that BEAD on a bass.

Yes.. I have had a few express interest, but mostly wanting to trade straight out.. I can't do that.. and what they have offered is not what I was looking for! Right now.. I would rather sell it. But I have a number that I will let it go at..
