The more I play it the more I like it. The body contours just feel "right" and it balances better than any bass I've played.

Thanks, it's crazy how much more pronounced the finish swirling if in the pictures than in real life. For a 15 year old bass I'm surprised that one pinhead sized dent some body swirling and a few fretboard scratches from the strings are the only dings... after playing it for 30 minutes without switching back and forth to the combustion I've acclimated and fully appreciate the neck profile, more so than my combustion and will probably renew my supporting membership and post it up in the classifieds next month.
I am on my way out of town for work so it'll be a few weeks before I get to spend any more time with the bass and try it out through my amp. But I'll post a full review of the electronics upon my return

Looks like it came from the same litter as my red one, or so close it doesn't matter. Except for the blend knob, which never gets used, I love the stock electronic package. The real test is in a live setting, I can't wait to hear your thoughts

Yesterday I was in the studio (well, actually in my bedroom but that's about the same) tracking this song I wrote entirely in my head walking downtown on a windy afternoon.
It's in a style I've never really done before and I thought it needed a more modern/attacky tone than my SP5 which has been my main bass for about 4 years now.

I tried a few different basses - including a SJ4 with super fatties. Nothing really felt right.
An hour later I fell back to the trustee SP5 and it clicked immediately.

Gear comes and goes, even other Dingwalls may come and go eventually. This one is with me for good.

Sheldon has the switch knobs and they're orderable.

Is that the bass that was on Reverb for a while?

Yeah, I love the Z's. I'll always have a soft spot for the AB1, since it was my first Dingwall, but there's something about the shape, contours and feel of a Z. And of course the neck...but I think the neck contours have evolved over time so there's a continuum of thicknesses and shape.

On my front, I should get a chance to work on my 'project' Dingwall in the next couple weeks. Moved into our new squat on Saturday, now we have to un-bury and unbox for a bit.

I won't ask, but I have a few guesses what they're selling for from that era. There have been some 'late' voodoos up from around that time recently. I've said that I think that the late 90's-early 00's Dingwalls are a bargain for what you're getting and are probably undervalued.

Also limited color and pickgaurd. L and m will give me a fantastic price on it but I'm just not sure what to do as I have my AB2 5 and my SJ5 already and my AB2 6 on order...... I feel ******** for asking.

I have my AB2 dropped to D for the band I'm in and it mainly stays in its case when it's at home. I think the nolly would act as a duplicate for the band bass but just stay in the living room until the 6er shows up where as the stingray is just a whole other beast unrelated to anything I do besides enjoy monkeying on it.

I've got this one on hold for $1750. On the 9th they went up to $1875. I've been having a hard time pulling the trigger just cause I don't need it...... I'm being greedy and foolish.
Also, with monster days..... No interest right now for 6 months
