Dingwall Owners Club

Just have to ask yourself why you'd buy a 6er at all, of any make/model. If you have time (I don't know how far along you are in your order), you could pickup a cheapie 6er to see if it is "for you" and go from there, too. I've owned 6s off and on over the past... decade? I know I need a Dingwall six. I also need a purple one, so I'm hoping someone sells theirs :D

Yeah that's basically been my logic too - I don't need a 6-er, but I do need a 5-er for what I do.
As always, your logic is impeccable, sir.

Besides, I can always get another built for me should I decide a 6-string is for me....maybe that Z3 everyone seems to rave about ;)

I put an order for a Black Dingwall Combustion with a black pick guard and rosewood fingerboard back in January. While waiting for that bass to arrive I tried other models (I really like an abz they had) and almost pulled the trigger on a black NG2 but decided not to as I was looking for a more less aggressive sounding bass (and I have never really much been of a maple fingerboard person).

I got possession of my new bass last week and I used it at church last Sunday all I got to say is holy smokes the clarity!

The sound guy barely eq my bass, I take that as a huge complement. Its a keeper and now I'm part of this club :p

This is scheduled to be in my hands tomorrow. Sheldon estimated the usual 9 months from start to finish but it turned out to be 8 months from the date of my deposit to completion, and 8 months, 6 days to delivery!

Is that need or lust? Just like in a emerging relationship, we at first don't fall in love, we fall in lust and then in time we learn and earn that love!

I've been wondering whether I should change my ABIXXX build from a 5 string to a 6, but given that I'm used to playing 5 strings, demoed a 5 string Dingwall and haven't really played 6 strings much I'm kinda uneasy about spending the coin on one...

I have a Dingwall AB1 6-string (it's a rare build, it has a walnut body instead of alder) and I love it!

I also have a Z3 6-String coming in tomorrow!

Go for it, the AB1 has the best neck that I've ever tried! I'm really curious about the Z neck...the suspense is killing me!

This is my baby...

Wow. Amazing looking bass!

Thanks! :)

You will like the z neck, it plays itself. I never played a 6 string z. I would like to know how much of a beast that is. I was on the fence about getting one, but decided to get another z3.

Before this wenge neck of the AB1, the best neck that I've ever played was from a 5-string Ken Smith I owned and sold a couple of years ago...it was soooooo thin! But there is something with the AB1 neck that I really like. I've heard so many good things about the Z3 that like I said....the suspense is killing me!

Gorgeous!!!!
Looks like a similar spec to my 6 ab2 on order. The wenge neck and maple fretboard works well??????

Works perfect, this bass sounds unbelievably musical. It has a lot of sustain and definition.

I've never tried an AB2, I've always been "scared" of it been semi hollow...maybe that it would be too acoustic sounding more my taste.

I've been playing an ab2 for a while now and I'm still blown away by the sounds that come out of it with the 2 band glock. I guess it can sound pretty acoustic but I like that. That said. Tweak the wonderful electronics and she can sound like a whole other monster altogether. honestly, either way is an amazing sounding bass with the tonal diversity of a cat in heat.!!! Once again, that thing is awesome. Congrats.

Good to know! I need to try one!...The Z3 will be here tomorrow...and because Murphy is not my friend, probably UPS is going to deliver it at 8pm hahahahahahahaha

I went into my local shop today (I don't know why I do this when I'm broke), but they had two new NG-2's hanging on the wall. One was Matte Pearl and the other was Ferrari Red.

I didn't know this Matte Pearl was a colour for the NG-2's, or was this actually Ducati White? I had the impression Ducati White was a bright white under a high gloss, but this was definitely a Matte Pearl.

After doing a google search, I found Nolly posted this image, with the tag, "I've just taken delivery of this beautiful matte pearl @dingwallguitars":

This is what the bass I saw looked like, but a 5'er. To be honest, I wasn't very impressed with the colour. If this is Ducati White, I'll need to rethink what colour I will get when I can get one.
