Can someone with an ABI with the FD3s measure the PUP widths for me and give me the width in inches? I know the Super 5s are around 5 1/4" ABI are maybe 4 3/8"?
I get 1 and 3/16 to 1 and 1/4 inches.
In looking at your measurements, I now realize that I was measuring the depth? Anyway, the long dimension is 4.5" for a 5 string ABI, measured at peaks of the rounded ends.
I assume that has to do with the 18mm spacing of the ABI vs. the 19mm spacing of the Super series.

Thx guys, looks like I really blew it this time, I didn't realize there was a difference, so I bought 1 Ptone and 3 FDVs for my SJ5XXX and SPJ5 and finally went to install them last night 
only to realize there was a difference 
and these are for AB5s.
So I guess I'll offer them up here before I post them in the classifieds or the Dingwall forum. I only want to recoup most of my investment, so:
Ptone for $90 shipped, the 3 FDVs for $250 or $85 each.
So I guess someone else will find out how a Ptone or FDV sound at bridge (or wherever).
Sigh.......

Are they the rounded or square sides?
They are rounded corners without the exposed pole pieces, so they are production, not prototypes. I wonder if they'll fit the new ABZ IIIs?

Oh well, at least I swapped the leads on the middle and bridge PUPs while I was in there, it did change some of the tones, and I'm going to have to spend some time getting them sorted out.
Initial impressions are favorable. The middle PUP soloed is thicker than the bridge, and kind of has a throatiness to it. It'll be a couple weeks before I can use it with the band to see if it's useable solo'd, but my guess is yes. More impressions after more time.
Who has a break down of the switching on the Dbird? Are the middle and bridge pick up in parallel or series? How about all three at once?

Middle and Bridge are in parallel.
All three is Middle and Bridge in parallel, connected to the neck in series.
I would assume yes, given that the ABs all have the same body dimensions, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to verify that.
I asked Sheldon about the 4 1/2" FDV PUPs and what they would fit, here is his reply:
"At this point we have two shell options for the FDV. Round end and EMG size. Round-end 5-strings will fit any of our 5-string basses with round-end shells. EMG shape FDV 5's will fit any of the older Combustion/NG2 and ABZ models. We are no longer able to make the early rectangular shells but are looking into the possibility of having some 3D printed. No news on those for a while though.
An FDV will fit the bridge position on a Super P. We have not tested how they sound combined with the neo P set. We do not have an FDV version of the P set."
I did ask a follow-up question and will post it here when he replies.

Does anyone here have an SPJ5 reverse pickguard they would sell (depending on color) or let me borrow (I would pay shipping both ways). I am thinking of changing the color of my SPJ5 pickguard from black to tort (the bass is dark candy green with a black pickguard), but want to try the reverse P configuration before I have one made. Please PM with details.
You can cut a piece of corrugated cardboard in the shape of the part of the pick guard where the controls & jack are to mount them on for testing purposes. That's what I did when I determined that I prefer the standard configuration...
