Just find a luthier with a good rep. Routing in a pickup is a fairly easy task for a pro. You can ask Sheldon and crew if they know somebody out there but in a city that large there is assuredly a handful of folks that could do it.

Ya Sheldon's go to in Alberta is Jim Mosel (?sp?) in Calgary - I used him long ago when he was in Edmonton ! He is very good from what I recall

Anyone know a killer luthier in Edmonton?

I was looking at those last night. They are both attractive basses. I just love Dingwall passive stuff.

Tony, that new one look like ash or alder to you? What about wenge or pau ferro? You know how I felt about the Ash/Wenge combo, but god dang is it sexy. Having a hard time not swiping that one right now.

Edit: just heard back from them. Alder body, wenge board. That's a combination I've not tried. I'm not crazy about the scoop in wenge, but ash seems to have some scoop too. Anyone tried alder/wenge?

My AB1.5 was alder/wenge. Loved it's natural resonance.

Yeah, my AB is alder/wenge no maple. The wenge is un-traditional sounding to my ears. In an awsome way! Not really "scooped" like my ash/maple jb-2, just wenge-ish? Modern sounding maybe?

So hard to tell just from the wood combo. I loved alder/maple, alder/pau ferro, loved the look of tony's blue ash/wenge but didn't dig the sound as much, and found my black super P that was ash and maple to be a bit bassy, certainly more so than the PJs. My Z3 is Ash/maple, and I dig the sound of it, so I'm assuming the wenge was what I didn't much care for. Had an MTD634 with wenge board/neck and walnut body and it was the same thing. Just hard to gauge how much the alder will compensate for the (for lack of a better term) scoop.

Might also be that it had a slightly slower attack to the note envelope and a quick decay with a long sustain, whereas the alder/maple or alder/pau ferro seemed to have a relatively fast attack with a slower decay and shorter sustain.

The problem with selling one is what do you replace it with? :thumbsdown: There are only so many available, and most of us have very narrow and specific wants/needs :meh:
