Dingwall Owners Club

Slight heads up...
There's this one on eBay:
Dingwall Lee Sklar Signature 5 String Bass | eBay

I'm pretty certain this is the one that was on Guitar Center's used site for quite awhile:

The give away being the mark between the neck mounting screws on the back being identical. As you can see in the eBay add, though, they did not disclose nor photograph the fretboard damage near the 12th fret - and they have it listed as "Great used condition, some small marks.". I sent the eBay seller a message asking if there is damage near/around the 12th fret, but they haven't replied in 4 days, so I don't think they're going to fess up about it.

Only posting in case anyone was eyeing it - if you are, make sure to get an answer on that damage before putting the money down.

I was wonder how much play time you were gonna get on that trip. There's that fellow Phillipe gomez(i think) who seems to just travel around with his dingwall and play everywhere. What a cool thing.

Glad the new ding made the trip with no problems. It's now extremely well travelled. Lol.

On this end of things.....
youd be proud. I now have me a laptop(thank you airmiles) set up with an interface and a program to get on recording stuff!!! Also, strap number 3 is complete and heading for a photo shoot today with my friends prima. On top of all that the cold is pretty much gone and for my first recording abortion I've chosen a song completely outta my comfort zone to start with on the recording. Lol. Walkin' after midnight by patsy cline. However I'm thinking kinda walking dead style. Heheheheh.

His name is Felipe Gomez. He releases material under "Bass Invaders" (he adds "project" when he has a band.) He also has his fundraising "bike and bass tour" where he travels around with his Dingwall on his bike. Felipe is a great guy who happens to be a pretty darn good bass player too. I remember when he got his endorsement with Dingwall, he was thrilled. He has been rocking that ABZ6 to death for years now and it shows.

Mind if I ask where you saw that AB1? There was a similar one listed on the local Kijiji (out of North Battleford) at $1500 but after speaking with the seller it got a little strange and then he disappeared and removed the ad. I am just wondering if there is a connection.

I think @Selta is right.

I had purchased this from Guitar Center, but ultimately returned it, not because of the damage, but because it wasn't my style (and I didn't want to deal with flipping it given the damage). After A/Bing for a couple weeks, I ultimately decided to stick with my Afterburners for now. Not to mention, a walnut necked Afterburner came up for sale and I've wanted one of those for a while and I can't keep both. :) So - in the spirit of helping others know what they are getting:

My pics:

Guitar Center's pics that I requested before I bought it:

The pics on Guitar Center's site make the neck damage look awful. It is not that bad - it is small divots at 12/13 and then another one up a little higher. I never noticed them when playing. There are a couple other scratches shown, including one small dot on the front. I think it was worth what I originally paid for it ($2300 including tax), but I don't know that I'd pay $3K for one in that condition. I also sent an E-bay message to the seller asking about the damage - no reply.

Hope this helps someone.

Allow me to further comment. I'm currently in the studio with a group that's doing 70's style prog stuff, a la Kansas. Want to bring a 4-string, maple neck precision for some pick-style aggressive grind. It strikes me now, though, that Dave Hope's tone on a precision is remarkably similar to Geddy Lee's tone on a jazz bass. Think a passive SJ4, namely the one on reverb, would nail what I'm looking for?

I saw the same kijiji add. It was from somewhere in BC. Different from the one in Battleford. I looked at both ads

Felipe's a great guy, he has so many cool stories!!! If you can, get him at a house concert and just chat/jam with him it will put the biggest smile on your face ever!

In that pick he's beating the crap out of my old fender! Then I tried his bass.. and a year later I placed an order for my own Dingwall :)
