Noooooooo!!I am no longer in the mix for that gorgeous z3x sixer. I was just giving him grief for the same reason I believe you were. DT's a big tease.
Actually, I completely understand it. It's hard to let something like that go. I would have been tweaking over that also.
If you guys recall I did the same thing with my SJ a while back. If your timing was better Dustin you'd have my SJ and I'd own your lovely Z. Lol.
Now to withstand the temptation you pose to us now!!!! FYI, I did warn my wife what you are doing..... so far the looks haven't been that dangerous. Mwah hahahahha

I think a few of us should get together and establish a very tight "Dingwall swapping" circuit. If there were say, four members, you could look forward to receiving a new bass every 3 months and you wouldn't see the original for a year.....
This would alleviate DAS but it would all go to H@ck as soon as somebody reneged and kept one too long!
That would be interesting, especially if you could get a network of folks close enough to each other to just hand them off. I agree, though, that at some point it would break down. Then again, maybe everyone would end up with the perfect fit (for now) and the swapping would stop.
Shipping would be like rental - if it was just $30-50 a pop it wouldn't be so bad. It would be those folks in the boonies that would wreck it.

Yerp. I know for me to ship to the states with full insurance we are talking 300-400 a pop.

I'm never really married to any one option, I guess. It's not that I'd be opposed to hanging on to the Z; the SJ4 is working out pretty great for this project, I suppose the other thing I could do is hang on to the Z and sell the SP5. I don't know, you guys are the target market, who wants what first!?
Except the super J, until this album is cut anyway.
The Z is definitely the show stopper and you know where I stand.
The Sp being a more attainable price point might be a more moooovable bass.
THAT...is a good point. Well, I'll give it a few days for anyone thinking about the Z to speak up. Don't want to pull the football. The amount of people who tell me they really want the Z makes it feel like a fast move, which increases the incentive to part with it. Then when it's posted...well, :crickets: Then when it's pulled :rabble rabble rabble!: It's a fast paced world folks, gotta strike while the iron is on, or whatever!

They seem to be soooo rare. This is the only one I've seen for sale in probably 2 years or more and it's just because the current owner treats it like a hot potato!!!!

Dustin, you know when you know. Sit in a separate room, and think about which bass you physically enjoy playing, take tone out of it. IME, you can make most Dingwalls sound like what you want them to. Which one (s) leave you with a smile on your face when you put it/them up? That's what I would keep. Then proceed to play your MOJO into it/them.
I hope you can soon find the peace and happiness I have with my Super 5s, it took me 19 years to try almost everything and to find them though, so it's more of a Do as I Say thing.......

Having two very different Dingwall's is awesome, but it makes consolidating difficult.
I'm moving overseas this summer and in order to simplify things, I'm going to reduce from an ABZ6 and SP5 to one bass.
I'd love to find an ABZ6/3 to replace the pair, but they aren't common; an ABZ5/3 is a close second for replacement (I know there's one in the classifieds but I'm not a big fan of blue).
Bass Direct has a nice AB1 6 right now, and if I sold both my basses I wouldn't even have to move them with me. They even told me they'd accept a down-payment to hold it until I got to the UK.
Then again, I could be greedy and just keep both but then I'm looking at buying 2 flight cases that'll take up valuable storage space once I'm in Belfast, and I prefer using a gigbag when I'm taking my bass around town.
I'm surprised there are no Super series 6 strings yet. An SP6 would confound those Fender purists.
Sometimes I think an AB with a single P tone in the scale-length-corrected P bass sweet spot would also be killer. Or just an AB with a SP pickup. A guy can dream.

Parting with a bass that gorgeous is hard, and me and Nathan are only joshing you over it. I agree with Thumper. Really sit with it and play it. Give it some love; and maybe some new strings and a set up. Play it and explore it. If it's still not giving you what you need, then you can be sure of yourself.
I had to do that with my Super P. I loved that bass aesthetically, but ergonomically, not so much. It just did not work from me like my longscale Dingwalls. It took a while for me to be sure, but when I was, I felt sad it didn't work out, but sure of my decision and I have no regrets.

Still digging it! Very different from my Dingwall though, they are both unique.
