I reached out to Mo on Facebook, hopefully he doesn't have a long wait time. I really want to get this done before I move, I've got a refinish guy lined up that'll get that part of it done in 3-4 weeks.

If Mo's too busy, then I may have it refinished and then routed at Bass Direct.

I've had a couple of fretless Dingwalls. Most were 'converted' from fretted (i.e., purchased a fretless neck from Sheldon and swapped for the fretted.)

I had a 6-string whale pool blue with maple/rosewood (epoxy coated) board. That was nice, just way too big for me to handle. I converted a cocobolo AB-II to a Jatoba/ebony board. That was amazing. Sold that because I was standardizing on the shorter scale Super series. The one in my avatar is a passive Super P with maple/ebony board. Its great too. (originally fretted)

Sheldon makes a great fretless neck. lined or unlined - your choice if you order one. quality is impeccable. easy to swap in. I went with lined, because I'm not crazy enough to think I could master unlined multi-scale.

I think the actual fret board is now usually ebony (for hardness). Not sure if he is still doing the epoxy coating. Your choice of neck woods. Sheldon always had great suggestions - which I appreciated, and always followed.

Hope that helps. I love having a fretless, although it is not my specialty. Just sounds soooo cool.

I think the strings have a huge impact on the tone as well. I like the Dingwall Nickel on my Super P/J and Super P.

Note: since going to the Super series, I was able to purchase a long-scale Prima. I'm back to 'suffering' with the long scale ;-) Once-in-a-lifetime bass.

Lol. That wasn't the intent but I know exactly what your saying. A little elvish maybe. It's just how it turned out. DNA was the original ideal that went left field.

And yep. Payson stainless. Uh huh. Beast mode ON. through my SVT4 pro into the fridge.
Monster crushing power and tone. Not warm and fuzzy at all. Lol. It's my metal rig no question.

In the strap pic I posted it is the NV212T in the background. One thing is that if you go to hear one, try to find one that has been played for a few hours. These have stiff drivers. When I first got one in I thought to myself that I certainly would never play through one. After a few demos, the drivers opened up and I no longer think that but indeed have the opposite opinion from my earlier one. I have one as a personal rig now and the Dingwalls are a great match.

Thanks. That's saying something. I've been contemplating getting one to stick under my Fender Bassman 100T. My SJ/P4 sounds great through that amp into a couple of ML112s currently. Gotta try my Two10 with it tonight. GAS is biting me for the NV 212 though.

I understand your outstanding cab choice; it is also one of mine. I have 3 basic personal setups - the Genzler BA12-3 Pair with MG800 amp, The Berg B-amp / NV212 or HG310 (depending on the size of venue), and a Quilter BB800 with a custom made 12 with a 3012HO driver. I always get complements on my bass sound and would like to think it is my outstanding bass abilities - but in truth it is just the equipment with a bit of soul added. See this pic - it is the soul sweat coming out of my body last night at the "2nd oldest bar in Missouri". Due to the nature of the bar I will not be taking any Dingwalls.
