Just another instance worth mentioning. I've played a festival where everyone is camping. Including the musicians. Sure things are locked up in a travel trailer.... shared by the rest of the drunken band but that's not reassuring when your done playing and out enjoying the festival meanwhile the troublemakers of the world are lurking around the campers looking for easy Pickens.

Believe me, I hate to sacrifice the feel and tone of my main player but some nights.......
leaving your gear at camp is your only option.

And...you guys probably don't have to put up with this, but one reason I don't take my better basses to the gig I posted is that they smoke cigarettes there. And to be fair, even my "beater" bass sounds and plays real good and my "lower end - less expensive" bass cab is a 3012HO based cab so it isn't "low end". But I would rather the less expensive stink than a more expensive bass or cab or amp - just not gonna do it.

I forgot about the days when you could smoke in bars! Thank God those days are over (here)!

It is insane that it is allowed here. Our state is backwards in so many ways. I quit a band about 7 years ago because it seemed all our gigs were in smoking bars and I got tired of coming home stinking like an ashtray. The redeeming part of this one is that we are next to the back door and I make sure it stays open. May get tired of it.

I definitely go out more often (to see bands) because smoking is not allowed anymore. Now if I could only somehow get rid of the grease pit smell from one of the local jam night locations... I guess it's a little bit better coming home smelling like fries than smelling like an ashtray!

I completely forgot about that factor!!! How many years has it been 7-8? Time flies. Of course back in the day I was a chain smoker when I drank so it didn't seem so bad. Now...... holy crap. I have the odd cigar and feel like death.

One of our most regular spots is a great stage and a waffle restaurant (Funk 'n Waffles)...I always come home smelling like waffles.

It was our exclusive local venue for 2016. :D It's also where we held our CD release party. They just bought and re-opened the infamous Rochester Water St. Music Hall and have done over the whole place, two stages and have their full waffle setup there too. We play their grand opening party next week...Headliner is George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic...

It's a cool setup. a 400 cap. club room/stage then a 1000 cap. stage that's a two story warehouse space. They're running music from 7 until 2am. One ticket gets you access to both stages and the acts stagger. 7pm opener on the club stage, then the opener on the Music Hall stage, we hit on the club stage for a half-hour set to cover the P-Funk change-over then we play another hour and a half after they end to close out the night.

...the week after we're doing a similar event where we're the close out/after party for the Wailers.
