This might be a dumb question, but is there any difference in Dingwall's long scale and medium scale stainless steel strings?
The gauges are the same.
I'm asking because my local dealer only carries long scale strings.
I'd have to get some from Bass Direct in the UK if i wanted to get the medium ones.

I would hazard a guess that it's just the length so the taper at the nut would be in a different location.
Can you order med scale from Dingwall direct off of their website?
The Long Scale strings will break if you try and wrap the full diameter section around the tuner post. You'll need either our medium scale strings or a set where the string tapers before it gets to the tuner.

Does Bassstringsonline.com ship out of the US?
Some of the European Dingwall players really liked the Sansone strings. These are not available in the US.
There are so many choices for a four string Super J strung E-G. Most any standard four string set will work.
I've used TI jazz flats, DR Hellborgs, low riders, sun beams and pure blues. Infeld superalloys. And Dingwall nickels.
My favorites are the lightest set of Pure Blues for rounds, and the TI jazz 344 for flats.

I really like the Sansone strings so far, but I want to compare them to the Dingwall ones. I'll just order from Bass Direct
Wait, what now? I want to make sure I understand this. If no taper on the strings you only want...say...les than half a wrap on the tuner post?

Yup. I just could not bond with that bass. My '68. Now that's a different story.
The '68 Tele bass goes in the coffin with me. The new NG2 is hanging right beside it in my music room -- I suspect I'm gonna need to order up a larger crypt or something. lol.

Received this beauty in Friday and it is going out today! I plugged it into a 800 watt amp with the pair of 15s and created 5 minutes of drive the mice 10 miles away THUNDER; had to make sure everything was perfect and it was. Amazing bass! So light and playability was easily one of the very best 4 strings I have ever played. I now have one on order for myself.
