Simply being thankful that good customer service still exists. :) Glockenklang's representative (Helge) contacted me almost immediately after Jeff @ Dingwall contacted him, requesting my snail mail address so he can send everything I need to replace my volume control/bypass switch. Not one mention of remuneration and parts are arriving in 5-10 business days! This and Helge's kind offer to answer any questions and assist in any way he can. :cool:

Everyone Sheldon employs and works with are absolutely solid gold. The Dingwall team really do get involved with the best out there.

I'm gonna order strings for both of my basses before I make the move across the pond.

DW nickels for the ABZ6 because they're great.

Debating whether to stick the the DW-n for the SP5, or try something else in the nickel-round family since it's got the sweet FDV in the bridge position now. It sounds great as is... but, is there better?

It's a bummer how quickly the SS strings die out. I know they still sound great 3 months down the road but when your ears are missing something dispite your assumed satisfaction and you throw on new strings it just crazy the difference. It's caught me a few times. I think "well, I just changed these out not THAT long ago..... can't be the strings......"
But it is.

Yep! I will say I notice a bigger drop-off in volume, girth and presence with a 24V active bass than with my passive basses for sure...I don't do science or engineering so I don't know why. I'm gigging on the Voodoo right now, I go back and forth between nickels and SS strings. I have a lightly played and freshly cleaned set of nickels and they are barking with much glory!

I have serial numbers issued for all the Canadian basses I have on order. It is interesting to see the difference in S/N in just a few months.

From Sheldon's postings on Facebook, it seems like they're beefing up the staff at the Canadian shop, building newer and more efficient machines to help cut down on times.

The Combustions are so insanely popular. I'd like to know how many of them are out in the wild now.

Hmm, I used to like DR Sunbeams. I haven't tried a roundcore string in a while. But then, I'll be on a tight, grad-student budget so this next set of strings will probably be the only new ones I get for a while, not sure if I'll be able to put together a string-soaking tube... so I've got to be somewhat certain I'll really like this next string set.

I don't know how many more employees he can fit in there. The shop is bigger than the Broadway one but it isn't massive. The other side of the building (a dog salon/day care) just moved in a few months back. They have to close up shop before he can snag up the other side. Mind you, that would be a pretty big expansion.

I use Dingwall strings on the Dingwall basses. On my other basses for years and years I was a Rotosound guy but switched to the Pure Blues on all of them except my "Beatles" violin bass. I am sticking with the Pure Blues.

I do know that when Sheldon added the last addition to the office staff it made a HUGE difference (Kudos to C). Difficult to say what the difference is of the additional setup people, but I am sure it helped immensely. At his rate of growth, I would think any additional space would be welcome. But I think what he as well as any other business has to consider, is the additional overhead. Overhead is what can kill any business. From what I see, his growth would sustain the additional overhead and space, but I also have no idea of the financial aspect of his business, and this may or may not be a valid thing. It would be fantastic for the consumers if he were eventually to be able to churn out his Canadian basses as well as to produce an NG2 out of his Canadian factory at a similar price point as the existing NG2, or even at a slight increase. The latest machining he has posted looks phenomenal.

Yeah, I agree that the Wenge/Wenge 5-ers are a thing of beauty as well as sound.
