Dingwall Owners Club

Ayy, that probably means mine will be shipping on Monday as well, I ordered the red swirl and I still can’t find pics of it so I’m dying to see how it looks haha

It could very be the first one. My Purple Swirl NG-2 4 is the first in the US.
The thing about swirls is there is never 2 the same. A unique option. Now,
if only a Purple Metal Flake happens! :smug:

Close. This one ships Monday also. I feel like Purple Haze all in my Eyes...

Yeah that purple looks amazing, I might have to get a six string purple swirl for my next bass lol. I ordered my red swirl Dingwall from your website as well, will that be shipping on Monday too??
So sorry; I have received 4 out of 26 being processed at Dingwall, but hopefully yours will be in soon. I too am anxious to se the red swirl. The folks at Dingwall are working to get these out as fast as possible.

Yep. I have a metallic purple coming to me this week. Got word that they were shipping from Saskatoon mid-last week, hitting the middleman by Friday/Monday then out the door to me.

Good time for us to have a sub-zero shipping week. :)

At least in Boston it is supposed to be mid 30s this week to mid 40s by Friday. Thats when I should get mine. Better than the single digit stuff we’ve had for the last 2 weeks!

It is a really neat color. I also like the purple swirl, which is entirely different.

Some reggae vibes on my SJ :D

For my money, Concrete Jungle is a more fun song to take apart. While Stir it up is fun, it sits fairly firmly in the standard reggae riddim tradition. Concrete Jungle follows the melodic path of the lyrics in a slightly different way. Also the way that Aston Barrett handles the bass on the intro is brilliant and a perfect example of his style and his time.

Aston Barrett takes a few different tactics when writing parts, especially on the earlier albums. Some of it is straight up riddim playing or working with some of the traditional mechanics (chord tones & arpeggiations across chords but with an ear to lots of space), other times he's working with the lead or backup vocals and weaving their melodic lines in to the playing. He'll do the same with some of the horns if they're using them. This is a piece that I've found is very useful in my own writing. Pulling out a portion of the main melodic line but coaching it in terms of a greater chord-tone rhythmic context.

Once you get into the 76-later era he's usually much closer to a 'traditional' riddim player.

To me if you really want to have some fun, grab a copy of Natty Dread and pull apart those songs.
