Yea, I have to leave early due to a conflict on Sunday so won't be able to stay Saturday so will miss out on Saturday entertainment. Gonna try JT's Friday night; hope the beer is good.
I have an appointment at the Genzler Booth at 3 Thursday if you want to catch up. I already have the new slants and I would be glad to answer any question but there also is another cab being introduced that I want to check out there.

True, however the way the issue was originally described was "one side of the string tree not quite tight enough." That is, indeed, a minor setup issue. My Musicman Caprice has a string saddle which has a tendency to fall down on one side. I can fix it in 5 seconds with an Alan key. I may opt to put some lock-tite on in to prevent it from re-occurring. This is a minor setup issue, and in no way diminishes the quality of the instrument.

Screws fall out all the time. The world is an imperfect place.

I did away with my string tree. Lots more winding at the tuners than I normally prefer, but it works for me. YMMV of course.

I used the 3/8 USA Hipshots. Regular Dingwall nickle strings, standard BEADG tuning. Action set low, but not EXTREMELY low, because I dig in pretty hard at times. No buzzing on any open strings, as hard as I ever hit them.

I don't have a close up of the headstock, but will post one when I get home if you like. The strings are wound ALL the way down to the headstock, that gave me the break angle I needed.

I'll give it a try next time I change the strings, I'm using the strings that came on it so don't have enough extra to get more windings. I gave up on the E and B as you can see:

Oh my, yes that's the problem I think. It takes some trial and effort, I cut them way too long, and had to keep nipping a bit more off until I had the final wind all the way down against the nut on the tuner. The beauty is, next time I change strings, I can use the old string as a template to cut the new ones, so it will be much quicker.
