I used the 3x switch but from what Jeff (tech@dingwall, not forum Jeff) said to me the switch type is irrelevant and what you need to be concerned with is magnetic interference between the pickups due to their location.
Here is his quote verbatim:
"All of our 3X configurations require the outside two pickups to be neck pickups and the middle to be a bridge pickup. If it is not done this way there will be magnetic interference that will cause cancellation issues. Your bass would require you to move the bridge pup to the middle position and the neck pup to the bridge position. The P-Tone would then go to the neck position."

Which is why when I ordered a PTone for the NG, Carrie asked me which bass it was going in...

Interesting. @Jeff Roller’s bass is probably the same as mine except his is an NG2, but mine is a Combustion. Both of ours are from 2015. @Waltsdog bass is 2017.

I understand that the average owner probably can’t figure out all the ins and outs of phase and polarity. If I can’t figure it out, I have a guy that is a master of wiring. He deals with pickups and mods every day. All I need to know is what the magnetic polarity of the pickups are supposed to be. Once I know that, I think I can figure the rest out.

@Jeff Roller and @Waltsdog do you guys have a compass? Could you check the magnetic polarity of the three pickups? I would love to know. Actually, anybody with a 3 pickup Dingwall, can you check and post results here?

Matt is a Pro for sure. Premiere Guitar snagged him and he had about 15 seconds to prepare for this so everything was pretty much off the cuff. That’s a tough position to be thrown into...nice job dude.

...ugh. I dodged a bullet on the black. I was about to pop a pre-order for one, but hadn't seen a headstock pic. This is not my style. I'd rather pay the custom price for the matched headstock. Though the purple isn't bad.

Thanks brother.

It was nice to hear the video back and discover that I hadn't done a bass a total disservice: it was SO loud in there that I really couldn't hear anything I was playing from where I was standing once we moved away from the high output "all three" configuration :roflmao:

I'm actually digging the Vintage Burst myself: the light headstock threw me at first, but it grew on me pretty quickly

It was ridiculously loud by that point in the day. That end of the venue had the “cumulative effect” for sure.
