Do I really need another one.

Well, he's only talking about buying a second one, so that's two. You were calling that "collecting". A bit extreme.
I believe some people can play and enjoy having several basses at the same time.

He's been playing one bass for at least 16 years and been completely happy it. Why complicate it now! A 2nd bass is just a gateway to a 3rd. Next thing you've got 20 basses in every pickup and string combination imaginable.

I'm just being cheeky and playing devils advocate though.

Glad to hear that!

Some might say that means he's put in his time and has earned the second bass. :D

It has arrived thanks to Bass Central. First impressions, nice, I like the smell of lacquer which unlike my American Original, this one has. The neck seems slimmer then the usual "baseball bat " Precision. The different neck radius is fine and the wide and slightly thinner neck feels good. I like the darker Sunburst color and is different than the old brighter yellow and red.

I resemble that remark. I had ONE BASS for four decades. Now I have five. It's called intellectual curiosity. As a musician it's imperative to expand one's world view.

Although I'm all GASed out for new axes I have a home workbench project going on. My 2008 Limited Edition 60th Anniversary Precision Bass is getting a Precision-labeled replacement Fender Jazz Bass neck, Gotoh Res-O-Lite tuners, a Wilkinson bent steel/brass saddle bridge, and a Hipshot string guide. It will shave more than a half pound off the weight.

I wouldn't have done it had I not experienced the Precision and Jazz basses after my slab. It really opened my eyes.

Just telling the truth. I was happy playing guitar for many years & thought one day I need a bass. I’ll just either a p or j & I’ll be set. Started off with that single j.

I recently got #20. Sterling Short Scale Stingray & love it. Collection has a lot of similarity to the untrained eye but you’re right-pickups, woods, strings, colors,fretted/fretless-I need the variety.
