Do you hang your basses up on your wall?

Personally, I don't much like the idea of leaving my instruments exposed to dust, light, ozone, and accidents. When the Loma Prieta earthquake hit the San Francisco Bay Area in '89, I was at work and my favorite bass was on a stand in my studio where I could clearly visualize how it must have been crushed by the bookcase as it fell onto my multitrack deck. When I was finally able to get home to Berkeley late that night, while some instruments in their cases had fallen on the floor, none of the worst-case scenarios had materialized. Just the same, after that, I became much more systematic in keeping instruments in cases when not in use. Ya never know.

But...

The real reason why I just don't see a bass wall working for me is that 4 of my basses are headless! :bassist:

I’m in a condo - not very creative... just hangin in my BR

I play all my basses all the time and the LP once in a while, so I like them handy. Hercules into studs.

I’ve seen a broken headstock on a LP from a fall from a floor stand; neither method protects against carelessness with valuable instruments. The Hercules tilts so weight distribution isn’t usually a concern. You do need to check, though. I can’t hang my Aerodyne any longer since I added a drop tuner, so that one is on a stand now. It hung before just fine.

Mine are all on String Swing wall hangers mounted into studs. Three in the basement, and three in my bedroom. I do switch them around occasionally. My rig is in the basement so those are the ones that get plugged in.
