Do you have a fear of breaking strings

In over 20 years of playing I've only broken three strings and the first two were on the same day. I ordered three sets of Carvin strings. G string broke on the first set right away. Installed the G string from the second string and it broke as well. Carvin sent me three more sets.
Third was a custom gauge of strings I had ordered for my Squire Bass VI. I took the strings off to clean it before selling it and I broke the high E when I put it back on.

Not until today when I broke my B string to restring my first 5 string bass. I fully blame myself.
And you probably never will.
I haven't broken a bass string in sixty years... and probably never will.
Never a broken string in almost 50 years of playing. Note that I like bright and fresh strings, so I change often, and typically have 8-12 basses in rotation.
I even tune fresh strings a half step up overnight for stretching / seating purposes.

I don't THINK so - I think I cut the string too short. That's my running theory at least.
I just went out to my local music store and bought two more sets of strings to be safe. Never had any problems restringing before, but maybe something about the non-fender style headstock and the thickness of the b string threw me off.
I did make the mistake of trying to tune it up to pitch using a clip-on tuner that probably doesn't work great with the low B, so that may have contributed.
Afraid of coming home from the store and finding I've broken an egg. Susan will beat me THEN humiliate by sending me back to the store to replace the egg.

Also for what it's worth, I just successfully strung it EADGC with the smallest 5 strings from a 6 string set - no issues at all. So I blame the B string
It should be noted that a quick TB search revealed that the OP has indeed initiated numerous threads re: breaking a string. It does seem like some kind of a recurring obsession if it isn't trolling.
Unless it's a kink, of course... in which case, hey OP, you do you, provided you have the strings' consent — and a "safe word."
