You are correct. Politicians determined that. ALL of them, not just dems, not just reps, ALL of them. This country needs a revolution alright, but poor people biting the hand that feeds them isn't going to help anyone. ;)

Too true. Democrats helped. But it's entirely fair to say that the push for tax cutting and deregulation is a conservative one. Even if it's sometimes being championed by Democrats. Bill Clinton himself declared the era of big government over.

I say bite the hand--hard. That's the hand that absconded with your bailout money and then foreclosed on your neighbors home when he lost his job. It's the hand that pulled the strings of congress in order to gamble and lose the entire economy. It's the hand that is even now resisting the re-regulation we need. It's the hand that is demanding even more tax cuts and deregulation for itself while you get nothing but the bill.

Bite away.

You are correct.

And I did not answer your question because you are trying to goad me into a political discussion. I don't care when the salary increased. You may note that it has not been subsequently returned to previous levels. That photo also fails to point out the lifetime cadillac health care deal they get. Nor did it point out the fact that while the rest of the country was in recession, politicians voted themselves a pay raise. VOTED THEMSELVES A PAY RAISE. I wish I could do that.

You're already in a political discussion.:confused::rolleyes:

Now, answer the question. If you wish not to, I'll take it you understand anyways.

It's sad that you think this way. It's sad that you're near the end of your life and you think you don't have any control over your own destiny.

Smart people learn that they can't control the system, so they simply exploit it for their own needs. Work the system and it doesn't work you.

Man, this is too funny. I've got a lot of years left in me, I work a four-day work week, I do what I want to do, I'm having the time of my life, and I can visit my kids and granddaughter at the drop of a hat. To each his own. I really do feel sorry for you. Maybe one day you can be so fortunate. Cheers. I hope one day you can finally find what you are chasing.

Well you read my reply right? So obviously I understand it. Obviously though you mistakenly believe it makes a difference. I don't see anyone up there trying to return the salary to pre-2001 levels.

Also, you are correct, which is why I am bowing out of this conversation now. I just had a month vacation for this type of thing and I'd rather hang out and argue about mixing 4x10 and 1x15 bass cabs. ;)

What? Tell me, who is feeding the poor? Not the top 1% that's for sure. Are you talking about the Government? President Obama is currently proposing cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Social Services and the Safety Net are being decimated because rich people don't want to pay any taxes. Where on earth do you get the nerve to make a statement like this?

Your reality is warped. Wall Street doesn't make money out of thin air. Consumers buy the products that Wall Street sells. Wall Street is a pile of trash but who were the people who let the pile of trash grow in their yard?

The Consumers.

This thread is so funny. While it is true that Wall Street doesn't make money out of thin air, the Federal Reserve Bank does. Who do you think controls the Fed? Where do they keep the gold? :rollno:

WRONG. Wall Street DOES make money out of thin air. It's called Credit Default Swaps. Do you ever read the news? Banksters make money by selling debt to each other and betting against consumer's ability to pay their bills. Please get some education. Read my links!

Seems to me you have people to blame, too. The difference is, well, reality. Hippies in the park with drums didn't crash the economy. Wall Street bankers did.

Stop the nonsense. Nobody here is saying we all have to live like Communists and you know it. I'm all about being wealthy. Most Americans hold the rich in pretty high regard. I'd like to be rich. And if I achieved that goal, I wouldn't feel a bit bad about it. There's no shame in winning. But we're not talking about winning. We're talking about cheating. It wasn't hard work and moral fortitude that determined who got bailed out and who didn't. Most people seem to realize that. Why don't you?

Who incurred the debt that is being sold? Who invested in the banks to allow them to grow as big as they are? Who gave the conglomerates and corporations all the money they've ever wanted?

The Consumers.

Once again - Wall Street is trash, but consumers built the pile.

My grandfather was skilled in the creation of metal furniture and metal windows. Did he get educated?

Nope. He worked hard.

The people who can't get a higher education (and that includes the people who can't afford it who somehow believe getting into $60k of debt is intelligent for a degree in Psychology) should use their skills of intelligence, strength, endurance, and a good attitude.
The problem for craftspeople and unskilled workers today is something called Walmart. In your Grandfather's day someone like him could make a living. This is no longer true in a Service Economy.
