Greetings from the North,
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon a great solution that makes changing basses at gigs and rehearsals quick & easy. A SnapJack cable with a set of extra tips work great and are pretty much fool proof.
I had originally looked into getting an A/B box or an A/B DI but since I would be changing up between passive & possibly active basses I didn't want to run into any issues of anything changing the sound of my basses....at all. I just wanted to be able to change up quickly and efficiently without worrying about muting and risking that annoying pop.
A couple of years ago I had read about SnapJack cables with the detachable magnetic (Neodynium) tips but thought they were just a gimmick, for those that might be clumsy and had a habit of tripping on their own cables and pulling amp heads off their cabinets. So I didn't bother with them. But since I couldn't find the particular box I wanted,on the day I went looking, I noticed the SnapJacks on the wall and took a chance and bought a set of extra tips as well.
Well the SnapJacks work just great! The sound quality is as good as my Planet Waves and other good cables. Changing basses is now simple & quick without the confusion of clicking any buttons. And it's silent unless you're really being rough.
Juat remember to pull out the tips from active basses just like you normally would after playing is done so that you extend your battery life. Check em out at http://www.zzyzxsnapjack.com/products.html they do the trick.
