Do you use fEARful?

Hope I'm not jumping the gun here, but I would like to take this opportunity to announce that CrileyCore Technologies has signed on as the latest builder of the pANTsFul speaker system and will be the sole authorized builder/distributor of our upcoming pANTsLess designs.

Details will be released in our quarterly newsletter but you may begin pre-ordering now.

Thank You,

The Management

I thought we were going to hold off on that tell at least the weekend?? O well the pANTsFul is out now........ Just a heads up that people don't fooled by anyone trying to sell them a pANTLess cab....... :hiding: :p

Had to do the announcement today because last night I accidently let a drunken facebook post slip out.

Then this morning my girlfriend went out to check the mail and wanted to know why all these people were sending us money.

Is that why my bank account looked more happy this morning...... I was wondering why I was getting money........ In that case I am truly thankful to ya. Maybe now I can help my American neighbors pay down their debt and reopen their government ;-) ..... I mean I am Canadian that's what we do :p

They build the cabs according to the design plans.....or do you mean which guy is the cutest?

No, I mean with the different options and craftsmanship available, quality control is what I was thinking about. For example, I’ve heard of Don (LDS) because he’s pretty well known, but I’ve never heard of many of the other builders. How does a builder qualify to be an authorized FL builder - how does Greenboy pick his builders? Also, how does Greenboy maintain quality control - inspect all the cabinets to insure all of the cabinets always meet his standards?

Don isnt a greenboy builder. He doesnt build fEARful cabs. He builds his own cabs.

Per greenboy's current builders. From what I have seen they submit builds they do on their own dime. greenie picks who he wants, but he has made a statement about a year ago that he is very happy with his builders as they are right now.

Feedback on quality come pretty quickly via his forums.

A list of greenboy's current builders.

It's pretty hard to get away with shoddy work with the internet and all. His builders do pro work and he's even weeded out 1 or 2 that let service or quality slip.

The guy is rightfully proud of his work and likes happy customers. He's not going to let any sub-par builder mess with that.

As for ABs and those who want to be .... This is From Dave"greenboy" Green himself that he posted a while Back. When ever on our Facebook page I get people asking me about becoming an AB I refer them to this.....

"....... Hello all. It comes and goes in cycles, but particularly in the past couple of months I have seen a number of people interested in becoming authorized builders. I will comment here that until after the NAMM show I will not be evaluating any case that is presented. Which gives anyone truly interested, a chance to prepare a case, and an encouragement to rattle my cage again after January, with a pitch that will have both parties excited with the possibilities.

Of course the first thing I think about is how an AB can complement the existing group of dedicated ABs in a way that doesn't just make their slice of the pie thinner. These guys are all my friends in a very real way and I do not want to reduce their joy. So. As a For Instance, if a potential AB can show the promise of serving an area that has great potential by being able to demo cabs to a large prospective base, that makes a compelling reason. If I sense an incredible drive behind that, and some real thought put into it, it stirs my interest. If a potential AB has some visibility and reputation that can be traded on, that's an edge. Someone with lots of drive, and some new angles in marketing has an edge over a "hobbyist" builder at this point, because unlike Bill Fitzmaurice I am not interested in having a long list so much as I am in having very strong friends and partners in this enterprise. An AB who just wants to add another design source to his list of design sources is not as energizing as one who is personally committed to these cabs. Just some things to think about.

So perhaps one should do a box or two to know if it's for them. More than one of the current builders first built a personal rig and that made them realize that the world needs more of these! But in the case I am thinking of, some additional boxes got built but only one was populated with drivers at the start, with plans to populate the others as finance allowed.

On the other hand, over the past couple years, there have been a lot of unmotivated tirekickers and guys who I think just wanted access to drivers and components at a lower cost so they could do personal builds for even cheaper. And more recently, the promise of getting one's hands on the plans for the non-fEARful cabs and crossovers would be a likely brass ring for the less honest or motivated to make an attempt for... But what is needed is people who want to open multicans of whupass for instrumentalists, and see a way to do it.

As with all Criley-Core products, a 120% non-refundable deposit is required with all pre-orders.

As soon as Will finishes the designs, I'll recruit enough heroin addicts from under the Main St. bridge to begin building the prototypes. These protoypes will be made available to the general public at a price only 30% higher than the final production cabs.

Full color advertising literature with complete specs will be available as soon as I buy a box of crayons and recruit a kindergarten class.

I am happy and proud that Will has chosen to partner with me and my company in this endeavor. And I look forward to helping him support the breweries in Texas and Pennsylvania.

OP: Just out of curiosity, are you building your own Fearful cab or are you having a Fearless cab built by an authorize builder, and if you’re having a FL cab built, how did you pick which builder to go with - options, looks, cost, location, other?

I'm going to build my own fEARful cab. Save myself about $300-400. Plus that way, I can do whatever I want looks wise and know then and there if it's what I want. I have a friend who's an artist and we've been going back forth with ideas. However, if I was going to use an authorized builder I would probably look through their gallery to see if any one builder's products stood out from the rest, and/or ask if they specialize in anything. I believe basic cost is about the same across the builders but it does vary a little. And a closer location would be optimal.

If your Bergs are close but come up a little short on the bigger, louder gigs, a pair of 12/6's will get you there and still have a little left to give if you need it, no need for the 15's, you can keep things small/compact with the 12's. They can do it because the woofers can take a good deal more power and give it back to cleanly, not "choked off", or sounding like they're running out of gas, assuming you have a fairly powerful amp. 300 watt @ 8ohm, 500 watt @ 4 ohm or bigger.

Of course, they will do it with a different tonality than your Bergs, so, a meet up/listen/comparison should be in order. The fEARful's will still have a "flavor", but they will be less flavored than the Berg's. The alpha mids used in the 12/6's are one of the nicer/smoother midranges of the line.

Thanks for the feedback. If I can't do a meetup- how would you compare the FFs and the Bergs TONALLY then??

FF's would sound more like your bass does DI'd through a really nice PA system does out front. If you dial up a sound you like through the FF, it will stay more intact getting translated through the PA and to the audience, instead of having such wildy different tones on stage and out front.

You really need to mic bass cabs to capture their flavor and a lot of sound guys don't want to do that, so this gives you a better representation on stage of what your audience is hearing.

If you don't run through the PA, these cabs have the performance and design to spread your whole sound widely across the audience, like a PA does, instead of sounding one way if you're in front of the cab, and a different way (usually muddier), to the people who farther off to the sides.

They're made for the speakers to put less of their own "color" on the tone and rather be more of an accurate "sound reproducer", rather than a "tone colorer".

I should add that while I have played a couple of Berg cabs, those 12's aren't one of them, so can't really offer any direct comparisons.

Don't have a trueblue fearful either but it's much easier to tell what those sound like as all the driver specs and design plans are public info. I can achieve a very similar sound by biamping my bass through one of my subwoofers and PA tops and tweaking an eq. The fearful does a similar thing all in one convenient box plug-n-play.
